Fire Corps is proud to introduce you to your Galena Fire Department members! Please meet GFD Fire Chief Robert Loren Conley.
I am originally from Potosi, WI.
I have served for 28.5 yrs.
I am the Fire Chief (5.5 yrs.). I have served as a Firefighter (4.5 yrs.), Operator, Secretary, Lieutenant (2.5 yrs.), Captain (8 yrs.), and Assistant Chief (8 yrs.).
My wife is Melissa; we have been married for 19 years. I have 3 sons, Baker (17), Finn (14), and Declan 14.
Outside of the department, I enjoy watching my kids’ sports and occasionally playing golf.
I work for the City of Galena as the Director of the Fire Prevention Bureau.
I find all training valuable, but I enjoy command and tactics training the most.
I have completed many outside courses, including many trips to IFSI Fire College, Monroe Fire School, and many others.
My goal within the Fire Department is to maintain or improve the level of service we provide and make sure it is sustainable. Personally, I just would like to see my kids graduate and pursue anything that makes them happy.
My favorite part of volunteering for GFD is seeing new members who are willing to dedicate themselves to helping the Department be successful.
Teamwork makes a difference in every call, drill, or event we are involved in. This is especially true during times when we have fewer available responders.
A strong teammate is someone who:
Trains to know the job and can be relied on to be proficient when called upon.
Is willing to sacrifice for their Brothers and Sisters, and for our customers (the person who calls 911 and expects us to deliver high-quality service)
Goes above and beyond when necessary.
Shows respect to other Firefighters, Officers, and the public.
We support newer members by providing mentorship and training to do the job. Being part of the GFD team means being able to be counted on when it matters.
Thank you, Chief Conley, for your dedication to our community and service.
