We’re ready to battle for a great cause!

Our EMS team is joining fellow first responder agencies for the annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive on September 14 and 15 at Garden City Community Congregational Support.

As EMS providers, we see firsthand how important blood can be for patients facing serious injuries and medical emergencies. Every donation has the potential to help someone on what may be one of the hardest days of their life.

So, we’re asking our community to support EMS and roll up your sleeve. Help us bring home the win while helping ensure lifesaving blood is available when our community needs it most.

¡Estamos listos para luchar por una gran causa!

Nuestro equipo de servicios de emergencia médica (EMS) se une a otros organismos de primera respuesta para la campaña anual de donación de sangre "Battle of the Badges" (Batalla de las Placas), que se llevará a cabo los días 14 y 15 de septiembre en Garden City Community Congregational Support.

We had a great time joining Word of Life Church for their Family Fun Night last week!

Our crew enjoyed spending the evening with families in our community, visiting with everyone and giving kids and adults the opportunity to learn more about what we do.

Thank you to Word of Life Church for inviting us to be part of such a fun evening. We always enjoy getting out into our community and connecting with the people we’re proud to serve!

Assistant Director Sullivan recently spoke with Black Hills Energy employees during their monthly meeting about heat-related emergencies.

The presentation covered recognizing the signs and symptoms of heat-related illness, understanding the risks of extreme heat, and how to respond when someone begins experiencing a heat emergency.

These educational presentations are available to anyone in our community. If your business, organization, school, or group would like to learn more about heat-related emergencies or other EMS topics, feel free to reach out to us for more information!

Our EMS crews have been busy this week as we make the move from the original Station 1 to our new EMS facility.

There are boxes to unpack, equipment to organize, and plenty of details to work through as we get settled into our new home. While there is a lot happening behind the scenes, our crews remain ready to respond when our community needs us.

We are excited for this next chapter and look forward to serving Finney County from our new facility!

Hay cajas que desempacar, equipos que organizar y muchos detalles que atender mientras nos instalamos en nuestro nuevo hogar. Aunque hay mucha actividad entre bastidores, nuestros equipos siguen listos para responder cuando la comunidad nos necesite.

Public Notice from the Finney County Health Department, Southwest Kansas WIC, and Finney County EMS:

We are closed from August 19-21 as we relocate and prepare to welcome patients and visitors to our new facility. While our administrative offices will be closed during this time, EMS emergency response services will continue operating as normal, and 911 emergency services will remain fully available.

For any deliveries or water samples for the Health Department, please call (620) 214-7047.

Our recent joint training with Garden City Fire focused on building and reinforcing skills that are critical when working together on emergency calls.

Crews worked through leg stabilization, CPAP, tourniquet application, blood pressure checks, and stair chair operations. The training also included a protocol test to review and reinforce the knowledge our teams rely on in the field.

Regular hands-on training helps keep our EMS and fire crews prepared, confident, and ready to work together when our community needs us most.

Nuestro reciente entrenamiento conjunto con el Departamento de Bomberos de Garden City se centró en desarrollar y reforzar habilidades fundamentales para la colaboración en situaciones de emergencia.

Las brigadas practicaron técnicas de estabilización de extremidades, uso de CPAP, aplicación de torniquetes, toma de presión arterial y manejo de sillas de evacuación para escaleras. La capacitación también incluyó una prueba de protocolos para repasar y consolidar los conocimientos que nuestros equipos aplican en el terreno.

La capacitación práctica periódica ayuda a mantener a nuestros equipos de servicios médicos de emergencia y de bomberos preparados, seguros de sí mismos y listos para colaborar cuando nuestra comunidad más nos necesita.
