As Election Day approaches and Vote-By-Ballots are now in the hands of Garfield voters, we believe Garfield families and residents should know just how important this election for City Council really is.
Currently, there are two other different City Council tickets vying for control of our municipal government this November.
One “Vision for Garfield” has been in power for the last eight years, with “Save Garfield” claiming to offer a break from Garfield politics as usual.
However, neither of these tickets will bring needed change that will best serve Garfield taxpayers and families.
Under the current “Vision” Council Majority, Councilman Joe Delaney has…
• Spearheaded the hiring of his daughter to a $260,000+ annual salary City job (City Manager/Clerk/Rdv. Director) +30 annual vacation days+unlimited use of a $100,000 SUV
• Pushed for the promotion of his son to a Police Captain with an annual salary of over $160,000
• Voted to approve over 700 new apartment units throughout Garfield, contributing to traffic and congestion problems, in addition to the monstrous warehouse on Monroe and River.
• Voted to approve over 5 tax breaks for developers in the form of PILOTs.
• Raised the Garfield property tax bill by an average of 21% since he taking control of City Hall in 2017.
• Presided over his children, siblings, various in-laws, and nieces/nephews, and extended Delaney family making over $1 million dollars in Garfield taxpayer funded jobs (salaries + benefits)
“Save Garfield” founder Everett Garnto wasn’t much different as a longtime Board of Education President and Trustee. During his tenure on the Board, Garnto…
• Engaged in a verbal and physical dispute at a Board of Education meeting.
• Cost $25,000+ in taxpayer dollars on legal fees
• As a member of the Board, oversaw promotion of his ex-wife and near doubling of her salary.
• As a member of the Board, oversaw the hiring of his daughter to an unbudgeted position.
Garfield families deserve a real change this November, not recycled candidates with a costly past for Garfield taxpayers.
Vote for change. Vote for the Believe In Garfield Team for City Council by November 5th.
