The cat’s out of the bag!

After a year of hard work and dedication, the Genoa Fire Protection District proudly placed its newest unit, Unit 2322, into service yesterday to better protect our community.

This project was made possible through the generous support of the Genoa Fire Protection District taxpayers and the Cooper Clark Foundation.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to TransWest, Steel Corner, Flying Dutchman Customs, Witt Boy’s Napa, Flagler FBLA, Town & Country Hardware, Todd Thompson, Jim and Mary Andersen, and our dedicated department and board members for helping make this project a reality.

We are grateful for the continued support that allows us to serve and protect our community.

Yesterday, our department responded as mutual aid to assist neighboring agencies in the fight against an active wildfire.

Wildfires require a coordinated effort, and we’re proud to stand alongside fellow departments to help protect lives, property, and natural resources. Crews are working long hours in challenging conditions, and we’re grateful for the teamwork and cooperation that make this response possible.

Thank you to our community for your continued support.

The wind is here. Be safe with travels and actions today. If you see smoke call 911.

*****NEW EMERGENCY MANAGER*****
****Wildfire Response Request****

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office would like to share that our office has recently taken on the role of County Emergency Management. As part of this transition, we would also like to introduce Lane Elliott as the County Emergency Manager.

With warmer, drier, and windier conditions upon us, we are entering a period of increased fire danger. To improve wildfire preparedness and response, we are building a voluntary contact list of farmers and ranchers who may be willing to help during a fire emergency.

We are looking for those who have tractor discs or plows for fire breaks, water storage tanks, water trucks, or similar agricultural equipment. This is not a commitment, only a way to identify local resources that could be contacted if conditions and timing allows.

If you are willing to be included, please email:

[email protected] with your name, equipment available, general location, and best phone number.

We appreciate the strong tradition of neighbors helping neighbors and thank you for supporting local fire response efforts.
