The Borough of Littlestown will have a cooling center open beginning today (Wednesday) between the hours of 10AM-6PM each day until further notice. The cooling center is located at 43 South Columbus Ave in Littlestown.

With the temperatures rising, several of the Adams County Senior Centers will be open as cooling centers during their regular operating hours (8AM-1PM). Check on the Adams County Department of Aging website to locate the senior center near you.

On Thursday, several members of the Adams County DES staff were invited to the Gettysburg Railway for a "Thank You First Responders" event. While enjoying the train ride, we were given insight into the operations at the Gettysburg Railway as well as Operation Lifesaver.

Safety is the top prority at the Gettysburg Railway: not just the employees but their guests as well. Each train car is well equipped with smoke detectors, first aid kits, and fire extinquishers. Each train also carries an AED and all railway personnel are CPR certified upon hire.
