Richland - Route 8 corridor - looking at you. We all need to do better and put the phones down while driving.
Let's face it, we've all been irritated by someone on their phone while driving. Not only are we irritated, but it is extremely dangerous. Starting Friday June 5th you can be cited for it.
Paul Miller's Law goes into effect and we, along with neighboring agencies, will be cracking down.
Per the law, section 3316.1 of the vehicle code, you cannot even HOLD your phone while driving, or reach for it if it falls. You can't use it while stopped at a redlight, stop sign...at all. HANDS FREE ONLY!!!
Do your part and don't become part of the problem. Put your phone down and drive safely.
Reply to text messages and missed calls when you get to your destination. It's not that important. Stay safe out there!
