Our tax dollars belong in public schools, not private schools' bank accounts.
Rep. Jeremy Shaffer voted to expand private-school tax credits by $50 million, a move that threatens the public school funding our local families depend on. While public schools welcome every child and remain accountable to taxpayers, private schools can hand-pick students and bypass essential academic and financial standards.
Pennsylvania’s public schools are trying to recover from years of unconstitutional underfunding. We must invest in the system that serves all children, rather than diverting public money to private institutions and putting our students' futures at risk. Shaffer's ideas on school funding are short-changing our children, bad for taxpayers and negatively impacting our great public schools in District 28.
