SYC Fire Camp 2026 has come to an end! Participants had 5 packed days of learning all about emergency services!

Day 1: Introduction. Students were taught what it takes to become a firefighter. They received an overview of the different types of apparatus.

Day 2: EMS Day. Students learned about all the what is carried on the ambulance and tested their skills with some of the equipment. They also learned Hands Only CPR thanks to RYNO Public Safety Solutions

Day 3: Demo Day. Everyone was able to put some of the tools they learned about to the test! Putting out fires, conducting search and rescue, and utilizing a variety of rescue tools, students were able to grasp better knowledge on how all operations come together during an emergency incident. A mid day break was taken to enjoy a refreshing treat from Gillice Italian Ice & Ice Cream.

Day 4: Field Trip! The day started with a stop at the York County Fire School to tour the training grounds and a live demonstration of how some of the props are used! We enjoyed lunch from Mission BBQ before traveling to York County 911, where they learned how a call for assistance is processed and sent to responders. We also visited with the County Of York Hazmat Team to see some of the equipment they use to mitigate hazardous materials incidents.

Day 5: FUN Day! To close out the camp, students participated in a number of events that brought together some of the things they learned throughout the week through friendly competition. Weather earlier in the week caused a change in schedule, and our friends from STAT MedEvac flew in to show the helicopter and talk all about the care they provide. We ended the day recognizing the campers for all their accomplishments throughout the week.


We would like to take a moment to thank the FF Chase Hartlaub Memorial Foundation for their generosity in sponsoring the camp this year. With their help, over 40 kids were able to gain experience in emergency services and help light a passion that will help them become the next generation of emergency responders!

The Glen Rock Hose & Ladder Co. is once again teaming up with Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company, Rose Fire Company #1, and Eureka Volunteer Fire Department to bring you the SYC Fire Camp!

July 27th to July 31st, from 9 am to 3 pm, participants will get to experience what it's like being an emergency responder!
