It's National School Bus Safety Week and we want to thank all our awesome school bus drivers and support staff for helping to keep our students safe! We'd like to also thank our community members for helping make our student bus travel as safe as possible by following these school bus safety rules.

School Bus Safety
More than a million children and teens depend on buses to get them safely to and from the more than 9,000 Texas schools every day. They also depend on motorists to know the law and drive safely around school buses.

Texas School Bus Law

Stop for flashing red lights on a school bus, regardless of which direction you're headed.
Continue your trip once the bus has moved, the flashing lights stop flashing or the bus driver signals it's okay to pass.
Violations can lead to a $1,000 fine.
Safety Tips for Motorists

Obey the posted speed limit.
Fines double in school zones.
Keep an eye on children gathered at bus stops.
Watch for children who might dart across the street to catch the bus.
Tips for Students

Respect your school bus driver and follow these rules:

Stand far back when you are waiting for the bus.
Sit still so the driver can pay attention to the road.
Look both ways if you have to cross the street after getting off the bus, or wait for the driver to signal it's safe to cross the street.

2019 National School Bus Safety Week

National School Bus Safety Week art contest winner drawing. 2019 National School Bus Safety Week is October 21-25, and the theme is “My School Bus, The Safest Form of Student Transportation!” The theme of National School Bus Safety Week is derived from the Poster Contest the year before. The 2018 winning poster, shown below, was drawn by Shivangi Ojha, an 8th Grader at Belton ISD in Temple, TX.

A message from LAKE GRANBURY Hello, this is a courtesy message from the Brazos River Authority at Lake Granbury. At 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16th, gates were opened for a total release of 23,800 cubic feet per second. Be alert for rising water conditions in the river. Increased inflow may cause additional gates to be opened. For more information concerning gate releases, please go to the B.R.A. website at www.brazos.org or the B.R.A. page. If you are concerned about flooding or the potential for evacuations, contact your county or local sheriff’s offices.
I'm requesting ANY and ALL EMS reports/incidents be faxed to the Unemployment Office in Austin, Texas. Stephanie Burk requested these documents. My name is Callie Marie Veale. My date of birth is 06/06/1985. I was raped on East Lancaster by Jayson Wayne Allen back in February/March of 2015. Officer Maldonado responded to the ITC in downtown Ft. Worth. I went to JPS and had the sexually asssault kit completed. I also spoke with Officer Goins while I was at the hospital. I made numerous calls because I had PTSD, rape trauma syndrome, anxiety, frost bite, etc. I reported to Dr. Bazil who's office is located in the River Plaza building off of University about how my father, Ward Graves Veale, DOB 11/19/49, had molested/fondled me when I was younger. HE molested me at 201 South Shelton Avenue Breckenridge, TX 76424. In 1996, we moved to 12505 Old Aledo Road to an old, two bedroom ranch house. The abuse continued. I have three younger siblings who still live in the area. Marion Monroe Veale, DOB 3/23/87, Coleman Vance Veale DOB 11/8/90, and Allison Ward Veale 5/23/94. Ward Graves Veale lives at 10214 Rolling Hills Drive Ft. Worth, TX 76126 (ETJ). He is the owner of Veale Ranches and Veale Land and Cattle. The office is located at 6300 Ridglea Place Suite 1119 Ft. Worth 76***. Celia Scroggins is his security and Jamie Walther is his personal assistant. Donna Hoskins Veale divorced Ward in 2011. She lives at 12717 Villa Milano Drive Ft. Worth, TX 76126. I had been living with her from May of 2015 until December of 2016 and was paying her $1500/month, taking care of the dogs (food, vet visits, etc), and running her errands. I worked at Mira Vista Court, Trail Lake Nursing and Rehab, and Lake Lodge Nursing and Rehab in Lake Worth. I had to report possible diversion to the police. I believe the CMAs were diverting. At Trail Lake, I reported it to the ADON and nothing was done. A whole Marine family was in management at Trail Lake and they were all mexican. I didn't feel safe there. At Lake Lodge, I was hired on as the wound treatment nurse. The girl who oriented me, her name was Alma Puente. She was an LVN and I also believed she was diverting so I reported it. I moved away in January/February of 2017 after Benbrook PD dropped me off in Oakmont Park. I had to get a protective order against Donna Hoskins Veale for hitting me, outside the downtown courthouse, after I had court. My public defender was Mr George Mackey. I also had to get a protective order against Ward Graves Veale because he hit me in front of the Senior Citizens Center in Benbrook, TX right near the police department. I walked in there to report my bike as lost or stolen to Officer Hughes. I went back, later, and reported what my father had done to me. I reported it on January 14th, 15th, or 16th of 2017 then I fled. I ended up going to 7175 FM 205 and working at Lee Healthcare as a home health nurse. I had to flee domestic violence again and ended up back in Ft. Worth. Wesley Charles McHone found me at UGM and PNS. He basically held me captive from August of 2017 until October 31, 2017. We lived at 8117 Bangle St, Houston, TX when Hurricane Harvey hit. It was terrifying. He hit me, for the first time, on 10/2/17. On 10/3/17, we moved to Austin with the two puppies we had rescued from the Hurricane. The physical and emotional abuse continued and I stayed because of Bear and his sister. He sexually assaulted/raped me on 10/29 and 10/30 and I walked into Austin Police Department around 1600 on 10/31 and reported it. Detective Wright is my Austin Detective and Detective Johns is my HOuston Detective. I spoke with Special Victims and Family Violence and had to circle and date the pictures of Wes both for Houston and Austin. I'm visually impaired, faint, and now, as of 12/8/17, I was hit by a car, while I was crossing the street in Galveston, TX. UTMB Galveston can't figure out if I faint or have seizures. Either way, your department needs to send ANY and ALL reports to Austin, immediately. Sincerely, Callie Marie Veale last 4: 2208 RN# 836621

Please be careful when traveling SH 67 either coming or going out of Glen Rose. TXDOT has removed the cones from southbound 67 as the green steel bridge is now reopened. BUT - they have not corrected the yellow center line markings. I just witnessed 4 cars veer left like we've all been doing the last 8+ months and the lead car was almost in a head-on collision on the Northbound bridge as they were traveling Southbound. Just missed a head on by mere feet. I called 911 to get them to fix this immediately, they said they've called TXDOT but they were not there. TXDOT is going to get someone killed tonight or tomorrow. If you're traveling Northbound on SH 67 - stay in the far right lane all the way or you're putting your life in eminent danger.
