✨✨SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY!✨✨

Each week we will spotlight a group that provides a service to our community! This week’s star is Elfinwild Fire Company!

Elfinwild Volunteer Fire Company, also known as Station 261, is an Engine and Rescue company that has served the residents of Shaler Township since 1931. The members of Elfinwild are 100% volunteer and provide firefighting, rescue and quick response emergency medical services (QRS). They are equipped with two engines, one rescue, a utility pick up truck, two incident command vehicles and one QRS vehicle. Four of those vehicles are certified and equipped for their QRS program, this ensures that even if a vehicle is out they can provide aid.

Did you know? Members of Elfinwild were trailblazers in emergency medical services! In 1971, Elfinwild became the very first suburban volunteer fire service staffed with trained and certified paramedics. The company continued providing advanced life support ambulance service to the community until the charter of Shaler EMS, now Shaler-Hampton EMS. They continue to provide medical aid for the community and aid to Shaler-Hampton EMS today through their QRS service. ⛑️🚑

Fun Fact- Station 261 is known to be haunted! Featured in the book “Ghost Stories of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County” and once hosted the “Middle Room Haunted Experience” Group. 👻
Some members notice an increase in ghost activity shortly before an increase in calls!

Your Big Backyard is back at starting Thursday, July 9 at 10:15 AM. Unearth the mystery and beauty in nature at the library! After practice in the heat this week, the Titans football team not only hydrated themselves, but dropped off 12 cases of water to Elfinwild Fire Company. Thank you to our student athletes for supporting our first responders.

Tonight, Shaler Fire Police responded with multiple fire companies to Route 8 just south of East Pennview Street in Glenshaw for a report of a vehicle into a structure.

Crews found a single vehicle into the side of Jim Anderson Auto, and worked quickly to secure the safety of the scene.

At this time, the cause of the crash is not known. Thankfully, no one was injured.
