Sewer Project is moving right along on Columbus..I know there are complaints from people..but this work has to be done..honestly..do we want sewage running down our streets if one of these old things burst? Gradeworx is doing a great job..and having a local company a bonus to Goldendale!! Thanks everyone for your patience..as this construction shall pass soon!

It was nice to see a full house at the Council Meeting last night. We appreciate it when you come and get involved and ask questions. The Goldendale City Council did move forward with a land sale agreement with Auscrete. Our attorneys will be drawing up the paperwork. We will do a final vote on this agreement at our meeting in August. This is an exciting adventure for Goldendale and we are all happy to see this agreement go through that will bring manufacturing jobs to Goldendales Industrial Park! Now if we can continue to this momentum and get more sites sold and more industry to move here! Its a step in the right direction! Thank you Goldendale!

I came to Monday's meeting wondering how many would gather at the announcement that the City of Goldendale would NOT be contacting Nestle regarding a water bottling facility. A packed house..and yes this is what we want to see. I was really pleased that some of those who spoke against Nestle also came up with alternative business ideas. So now for the next step. The business ideas and what to do with them!! Here is what I envision..the group that gathered has a large amount of experience in a wide variety of fields so why not collaborate, pool resources, develop a business plan and make a new business in town. I understand that some want to focus on tourism and the wine and brewery industry, we have a world renown Observatory that I have said for years could help draw more people in. City Council is also working on developing our Airport so that those who love to fly can come to Goldendale. This also opens up a new type of industry not only for Tourism but also for some manufacturing businesses. The need for fuel and Hangar space crucial to making this happen! Agriculture one more key element and potential industry that has so much room to grow here!! Lets make this happen!! I don't want to hear what Goldendale had..it will never go back to what it was! Lets make it new..working together to find solutions!

First off..Thank you to the community members who attended last nights meeting. Thank you to the staff who put in countless hours taking in all the questions, concerns that were given prior and making a very nice large binder full of information for us. We know that wasn't easy!! Thank you to my fellow council members spending hours studying and thinking about the two proposals. Last night we met..we talked about the pro's and con's of each proposal. We had a criteria set up in the RFP and that is what we followed to make the decision. The decision could not be based on emotion..and let me just say I felt pretty emotional at times last night! With that said after the vote the SOGO project carried the majority of the vote. This does not mean we don't want the veterans here! Many of us spoke with them afterward and we can hopefully come up with a solution that will suit their needs. We understand the importance of their project and the value that it will bring to our community as well. This was not an easy decision last night nor one any of us took lightly. What I hope is that we can continue to all work together to make each project successful and use some creative out of the box thinking to get the Veterans into a usable and cost effective building/land opportunity. Thank you again to everyone who has participated and I look forward to continued opportunities to make Goldendale Great!

Please join us tonight for the final RFP decision making meeting!! This experience has been amazing. The response, the self education, community involvement..the stress!! I do know that regardless the final decision someone will walk away unhappy and for that I am sorry. If we could just make it all happen tonight I am sure we would try. Whats important is we think about our future..the goals..and what we all can do to make Goldendale a thriving City..no it won't ever look like the Goldendale of years past..but oh what a future it could have if we all could work together..think positive and outside of the box to bring in new industry..See you tonight!
