Thank you to all who supported me. God has a plan and itā€™s become very clear to me in the past month that my family needs far outweigh my need to be an Assessor or even work right now outside my home.
Kathy will absolutely continue to be a terrible Assessor but hopefully someone better comes along to replace her the next time she throws a fit and wants to quit because she doesnā€™t like something.

Hey yā€™allā€¦. The Reno Cop watch people are going to post my criminal history and blah blah blah. If you want to see anything about my past, like Iā€™ve said from the beginning, shoot me a message and Iā€™ll bring my background check and whatever else you want to show you. I honestly have more important things to do rather than sit on facebook and the internet and search for dirt on people that are insignificant. Kathy worked at a brothel, my ex husband was arrested for domestic violence when I was 17 against me, Kathyā€™s husband made her sign over her rights to his property to his kids which is a thorn in her side to this day, I have a past also. I have absolutely said and done horrible things. I was not always the greatest mother. I suffered trauma as a child and throughout my first marriage that took a long time to learn to manage. I am smart and I did an amazing job in the Assessors office. If I win, I will prove it, if I donā€™t Kathy will prove who she really is very soon enough. I have a grandbaby and family that matter more to me than these trolls on the internet, most of who cannot or will not post their true identity. I support Deputy Tulipat. I have a lot of respect for Travis as well. I support DA Bob. Heā€™s a brilliant man who lives here and doesnā€™t want to outsource his job to cost the county more money. I donā€™t think itā€™s very professional for Kathy and Ralph to bring goodie bags and signs for people who canā€™t bother to show up but vote for who YOU think is best. We all have pasts, weā€™ve all lost our tempers and done and said things weā€™re not proud of. Post my criminal history, post whatever you want.

Ya know, Iā€™ve really tried to run an honest and respectful campaign. I feel like Deputy Tulipat and Smalley have also. Itā€™s sad that these are adults. We all have our pasts and I am very open about mine and I will always have a conversation about my past with anyone. What they arenā€™t saying is that since 2012 I have gone on 2 mission trips, earned a bachelors degree, established a solid and thriving relationship with my three children, and literally been pulled over one time and have had zero run ins with law enforcement for my behavior. I have worked to build and have maintained a fairly happy and fulfilling life for myself and my children. Iā€™m not a politician like Kathy and her minions or Ryan and his and if this is what it takes to be one, I will never be a ā€œgoodā€ politician but I am a fair and honest person who wonā€™t back down or run from my past or anyone trying to bring me down. If taking my past trauma and turning it into a post makes you sleep better at nightā€¦. God bless you. Do you know what the notice you got from the count assessor in December titled ā€œAssessed Valuationā€ means?

Mid December is a busy time for the Assessor. The office prepares, prints, and mails your Assessed Valuation form. This shows you the taxable value on your property or home last year and what it is this year. You have until January 15th to file an appeal on the value the assessor has assigned with the Board of Equalization but the first step is speaking to the assessor. So at the height of the Christmas season, mixed in with bills and Christmas cards is a notice that many donā€™t understand even if they do open the envelope. Then you have only two weeks to speak to the assessor and appeal to the state. This timeline is not in any way the current assessors fault or doing.

When doing the assessments in Goldfield with the current assessor last summer, I had several questions. What is a knee wall? Why are greenhouses taxed so high? Why are we measuring the porch on a shed thatā€™s too small to tax? Why do we put buildings that are mostly fallen down as something when the previous assessor of over 2 decades didnā€™t have them on there? Why donā€™t we tax coral fencing but we tax temporary or movable chain link fencing?

The current assessor insisted we keep knee walks on there although she couldnā€™t answer what they were. She couldnā€™t answer why green houses were taxed so high so she said to ā€œmake them a small shedā€. She was inconsistent on the porches on sheds too small, changing it only for certain people. She said it ā€œlooks betterā€ to have something there to the 80+ year old buildings that are mostly fallen down. No good answer on the temporary movable fencingā€¦. Unless someone protested while she was assessing.

I have anxiety and yesterday was a day so I didnā€™t go mingle at the meet and greet with the Tulipatā€™s in Dyer. I chose to help cook the burgers instead and I enjoyed the time spent with my sister and Jizel and the other people that came out to talk to us. We had a nice drive home and stopped to see the Munkin (my grandbaby). I thrive in small groups or one on one but big crowds are a challenge for me sometimes.

This election is in Gods hands. He knows who will win all offices and hopefully the ones elected put their faith in Him to guide them. This election, like most, has gotten very ugly. I am disappointed in what people think is fair game to use against their opponents or the candidates.

I know from working in the assessors office that it is not being ran with the best interests of the community in mind as Ruth ran it during her decades of service. Politicsā€¦ā€¦. All I can say is that I donā€™t have secrets. I own my mistakes and Iā€™ve made a lot of them. You donā€™t have to dig stuff up on me. Ask me and Iā€™ll tell you. I used to post a play by play of my life but people often leave out the parts they played or the parts that do not fit their narrative so if you have a question, shoot me a message. Chances are there is some truth to what you are hearing but part of the story may be missing. I will be writing a book one day but by then the political games of my life will be at an end. I am absolutely human and have been put in my place by God more times than I can count. He has a way of humbling us. Just when I think I have it all figured out, I realize Iā€™m not in control. This election, my campaignā€¦ā€¦ itā€™s going to go how God intended. I will win if that is my path and I will lose if that is my path. I have lived by faith since 2014 and have had the best years of my life since. With Jesus behind me, I can face anything and NOTHING will ever be as scary as my past so please ask if you have a question.

The primary election is June 9th. I for one am very excited for this day. If youā€™re not registered to vote, register. Your voice matters. Your vote counts. My opponent and I are both Republican therefore if youā€™re not a republican you canā€™t vote for us in this race and itā€™s over in the primary. No matter weather I win or lose, I will be glad it is over. Politics are insane and even more so when mixed with small community drama. So why should you vote for me and not the current Assessor?
She absolutely has more experience.

I absolutely failed the appraiser exam twice. The person in the office who is not an Esmeralda county resident who the county pays to attend conferences and classes has failed it probably 6 or 7 times though. This person watched movies on county time instead of studying and the assessor was told that she was watching movies on county time and all she had to say was ā€œwhy didnā€™t you talk to herā€ā€¦.. I was not the supervisor for the office.

The current assessor has accounting experienceā€¦.. I worked for Jackson Hewitt as a tax preparer for 3 consecutive years. I also successfully owned and managed my own business as a nail technician for 11 years. I also have an Associate of Science in general studies which included a grant writing class and accounting classes where I graduated with honors with a 3.96 GPA. I have a Bachelor of Science in Human Studies with a Criminal Justice concentrationā€¦.. also graduated that program with honors.
I raised my children, absolutely not without issues but because of that I understand the school system on a level that the current assessor who has no children cannot comprehend. I also understand what itā€™s like to raise a family, work as a single parent, and grow up in a rural community.
I understand the value of a conversation as opposed to avoiding people. The current assessor got angry because the Board of Commissioners hired someone she didnā€™t agree with and not only stopped listening to the Commissioner meetings but actively hid to avoid answering a question twice that the Commissioners expressed a need for her opinion. She also actively hid from other people who had confronted her while assessing their property. I believe a conversation or an attempt at a conversation and clearing the air is a more professional way to handle a public office.
The Assessors office in Esmeralda County currently ties up funds to save a part time position when there is very little work to do during the winter months. There is no need for a part time position without the DMV. If the need came up for a part time position, why wouldnā€™t the elected official go to the commissioners with a need IF it came up?
The current assessor stated on numerous occasions to numerous people how much she hated her job and how she didnā€™t need it. Everyone thought I loved my job and was surprised when I quit. Fun fact? I LOVED the job? I HATED the games.
The current assessor has expressed to me personally that sheā€™s only running this last time so you would get her experience for 4 more years then a new Assessor with or without experience would be elected. I have another 20-25 years of work in me.
I currently hold a temporary appraiser license and only need to be backed by a county to test and I am an appraiser. I HAVE the experience, I just havenā€™t passed the test.
I know I can do the job better than it is being done and I would love to answer your questions and I appreciate the people who talk to me and ask questions and also ask Kathy and talk to her. Know who youā€™re voting for. Know who is running in your county. Your vote counts! Even if you donā€™t vote for me!

Iā€™m running for Assessor because I feel like I can do the job better than it is being done now. Iā€™m not here to bash anyone and I would appreciate the same respect. I saw things happen in the Assessors office that made me feel like our county taxpayers deserve better.

I donā€™t feel like driving and smoking in a brand new county vehicle for 2 hours 5 days a week is a good investment for the taxpayers.
I live in Goldfield and I donā€™t smoke and even if I did, I donā€™t think smoking in something someone else owns is right.

I donā€™t feel like desk plaques, stamps, and periods or commas should come before ensuring assessments are done properly. I feel like there was a lot of time in the winter that could have been better spent than it was. It is a very slow time of year and should have been used better by everyone in that office, including me.

I have potentially a couple decades to serve the people of the community if they wish.
These are a few reasons that I chose to run. I feel like I am a better communicator. I feel like asking people and talking to people instead of avoiding them is better management.
