The Goochland County Sheriff’s Office joins law enforcement agencies across Virginia in mourning the passing of Martinsville Sheriff Steve Draper. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the entire Martinsville Sheriff’s Office during this difficult time.

You will be deeply missed! Thank you for your friendship, kindness, and unwavering support. We are grateful for the memories we shared and will always carry them in our hearts. Rest in peace. We’ll take it from here.

GCSO Faith & Blue is coming to Leakes Mill Park on Sunday, October 25 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Bring the whole family out for an afternoon of faith, fellowship, family fun, and community alongside GCSO and our local faith-based organizations.

This is a community event for all ages, and everyone is welcome. Plus, the first 200 kids will receive FREE ICE CREAM. We hope to see you there!

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM GOOCHLAND SHERIFF STEVEN CREASEY ON FLOCK CAMERA SUSPENSION

“As the Sheriff of Goochland County, I have carefully considered community input, the public-safety benefits of Flock Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) cameras, privacy concerns, and the evolving legal landscape surrounding this technology.

At this time, I have decided to suspend the Goochland County Sheriff's Office's use of Flock ALPR cameras. This decision is not the result of any identified misuse of the system.

ALPR technology is a valuable investigative tool that helps law enforcement locate stolen vehicles, missing or endangered persons, wanted individuals, and vehicles connected to criminal activity.

But I also recognize residents' concerns about privacy, data access, and the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens. Both public safety and individual liberties are important, and neither should be discounted.

My office will continue to monitor legal, technological, and policy developments related to ALPR systems.

We appreciate the residents who shared their views respectfully and thoughtfully.”

The first day of school is here in Goochland! Our deputies will be out in full force, keeping an extra eye on school zones and bus stops.

Please remember to slow down, watch for crossing guards, and never pass a stopped school bus. Let’s work together to make sure every student gets to and from school safely.

The Goochland County Sheriff’s Office joins the law enforcement community in mourning the line-of-duty death of Appomattox County Sheriff’s Deputy Burlie W. Duvall III.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Deputy Duvall’s wife, children, family, friends, and all who knew and loved him. We also extend our deepest condolences to Sheriff Robert Richardson and our brothers and sisters at the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office as they grieve the loss of one of their own.

The Goochland Sheriff’s Foundation has been selected as the beneficiary of this year’s Luck Stone Run the Rock 5K at the Rockville Plant on September 26, 2026!

Participants will race through the quarry while enjoying local food vendors, family activities, giveaways, and a raffle supporting a great cause.

Every registration, donation, and raffle ticket will help the Foundation support GCSO community outreach activities and programs that promote the safety and well-being of Goochland County, as well as law enforcement in Goochland County and across the Commonwealth.
