Grand Island Public Schools, located in Hall County, is a comprehensive school system offering a college- and career-ready education to students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The district includes preschool at four locations, 13 elementary schools, three middle schools, an alternative middle school setting, one Class A high school, an alternative high school and an off-site career aca

demy campus (Career Pathways Institute). Combined, these buildings house about 10,000 students. The Academies of Grand Island Senior High offer students the chance to join interest-based pathways to personalize their high school experience. Quality education begins with a quality staff. GIPS is proud of the energy, creativity, commitment, caring and high standards of professionalism displayed by its staff. The district employs approximately 1,500 staff members. Grand Island Senior High had six Islander students qualify and compete at the National SkillsUSA Competition hosted in Atlanta, GA earlier this month.

The Board of Education gave special recognition to the GISH CTE scholars earlier this week for their strong representation and achievements.

The first two weeks of Power Camp at Starr Elementary have been so much fun for our young campers!

Nearly 250 3rd - 5th Grade students from our Title I Elementary Schools are exploring science, movement, art, and engineering through fun-filled activities at the annual summer program.

The GISH Powerlifting team, which started just 5 years ago, has become a powerhouse on the national stage.

This year marked their third trip to Nationals, boasting 18 national qualifiers. The boys team earned National Runner Up, recent graduate Hunter Christenson was named a National Champion, and many other Islanders placed in the top 15.

For two Islander Graduates, the future includes college, becoming educators, and now job security!

We're pleased to announce the 2026 PathBack Program winners with the hope that they will return to the district and lead their own classrooms one day:

The PathBack Program awards students who have graduated from the Academies of Grand Island Senior High Education Pathway offering the two recipients the opportunity to come back and teach at GIPS after completing their degree and credentials.

Free breakfast and lunch will be available to children ages 1 to 18 years old (regardless of their enrollment in GIPS).

Free meals will be available at the following locations:

🍎 - Dodge Elementary - June 1st - July 17th (breakfast available in June; and lunch)

🍎 - Howard Elementary - June 1st - June 26th (lunch only)

🍎 - Shoemaker Elementary - June 1st - June 26th (breakfast available in June; and lunch)

🍎 - Starr Elementary - June 1st - July 17th (lunch only)

🍎 - Stolley Park Elementary - June 1st - June 25th (breakfast only)

🍎 - West Lawn Elementary - June 1st - July 17th (breakfast available in June; and lunch)

Show Choir on the Road!

Barr Middle School's show choir "High Impact" toured all of Barr's Elementary feeder schools before the end of the year.

Each year, Mrs. Cossey and her student performers hype-up our Elementary students [and future Barr Bulldogs] to get them excited about Middle School, and the performing arts.
