Happy Leader's Day to all Girl Scout Leaders!!!
Email that came out yesterday from JB regarding GSNETX Summer Camps.
Dear Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas parents, caregivers, and volunteers,
Summer camp is one of my favorite experiences each year – and I know it is for our Girl Scouts too. That is why it is so hard to imagine a summer without it. But we take the health and safety of our girls very seriously and that must be our top priority right now. For that reason, we have decided to take a phased approach to our summer camp decisions this year.
We are closely monitoring government, American Camp Association and Girl Scout recommendations as we finalize our plans for this summer. At this time, we feel it is too soon to cancel our resident camp programs, but we will make a final decision on postponements or cancellations the first week of May. If we must make that difficult decision, we will be finding alternative ways for your Girl Scout to experience the outdoors from the safety of your home.
In the meantime, we have been working with our volunteers to make decisions about volunteer-run day camps on a case-by-case basis. For some, the best decision is to cancel now and we completely respect those decisions. Other GSNETX day camps will make their final decisions the first week of May.
Therefore, we wanted to let you know that the following Day/Twilight Camps are cancelled for summer 2020: Breckenridge, Camp Lone Star, Fantasy Trails, Firewheel, Kinship, Treasure Hollow, Twilight Hollow and Twilight Oaks.
You have three options:
You can receive a full refund for registration. If you used Cookie Bucks to pay for your Day/Twilight camp, those funds will be credited back in the next few weeks. All Cookie Bucks will be extended through December 2021.
You can transfer your registration to one of the Day/Twilight camps that has not yet closed, knowing that we won’t have final decisions on our summer plans until the first week of May. If those camps must close, you can still receive a full refund. You can see the list of camps online here.
You can choose to donate your registration fee to be used in GSNETX’s financial assistance pool for Girl Scouts in need or to your Service Unit’s family partnership goal. (you will receive a tax receipt for your contribution).
Once you have decided the best option for you, please fill out this survey giving us your chosen option.
Thank you so much for your understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to call customer care at 972-349-2400.
