An update on our court case and charge that we received after participating in a rally against former Presidents Bush & Clinton this past June in downtown Grand Rapids.

Our hearing has been rescheduled due to an error from the court, and we will update you all once that happens.

Yesterday morning, the signers of this letter met with Congresswoman Scholten to discuss her policy positions on ICE & immigration as a whole.

I made it clear to the Congresswoman that calling for the abolishment of ICE does not mean that there would be no immigration enforcement in the United States.

Our country functioned for hundreds of years without ICE, and we can certainly create a more humane immigration system that does not murder our people on our streets or lead people to commit su***de in order to escape the horrid conditions in detention centers.

Additionally, I made it clear to the Congresswoman that we must begin any conversations around immigration with discussing the fact that the imperialist foreign policy of the United States has purposely destabilized entire nations and caused alot of immigration, and so if we wish to adequately discuss this subject, we must stop interfering in the internal affairs of other countries.

I hope that this meeting will help lead the Congresswoman to do better, and to truly fight for her constituents.

Time will tell if that will be the case.

It is disappointing that my Congresswoman Hillary Scholten has chosen to once again not take ownership for the consequences of her votes.

Our communities have tried to make it clear to Scholten for years that we do not agree with her positions.

Nevertheless, I look forward to being contacted by the Congresswoman to have a further discussion not only about her positions on ICE & law enforcement, but also on her votes that have supported the continued genocide of the Palestinian people.

Until then, and until we see drastic changes in the Congresswoman’s positions, we will have no choice but to continue advocating & placing pressure on our elected officials.

Various news outlets have called the results in our race, and I have just now called Commissioner Abbie Groff-Blaszak to concede the race and congratulate her on her victory!

The goal from the beginning was to beat the establishment candidate, and we succeeded in doing so!

I will have more to share tomorrow, but for now, we can celebrate our local victory while waiting for the results in the US Senate race.

Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign! Our ideas have won the day and this is not the end of the movement as we continue the fight to see these policies become reality someday soon!

The polls are now open and will remain open until 8pm!

Remember, if you’re not registered to vote you can still register at your local clerk’s office so you can submit your ballot!

The Republican-controlled Kent County Board of Commissioners is forcing a vote tomorrow morning at 8am to increase the money we send to the County Jail so they can keep cooperating with ICE.

Please go to KentCountyMI.gov to find your commissioners’ contact information, and tell them to vote NO on this millage increase.

It’s time to Abolish ICE, not give more money to this broken and inhumane system.
