Our police officers are so much more than simply law enforcement. We are public servants, problem solvers and community caretakers, who look to improve the environment for all those we serve.
Those efforts sometimes extend well beyond traditional public safety.

Last night the Bong-Divono family stopped by the PD with baby Ellowyn, and a big thank you for Officer Watson and the shift. In the early morning hours about 3 weeks ago, which also happened to be Officer Watson’s first shift as a new police officer, she responded to a call for service to assist the Grayslake Fire Department with a woman in labor. Officer Watson and FTO Semple arrived on scene prior to the FD. Officer Watson advised that she had previous training that included emergency child birth. Upon arrival the call turned out to be anything but an assist as Officer Watson immediately jumped into action and delivered beautiful baby Ellowyn into the world. It’s a moment none of them will ever forget!

As a safety reminder, Illinois Senate Bill 3484 went into effect on July 1, 2026, further regulating the use of micromobility vehicles (e-scooters, e-bikes, etc.). Please familiarize yourself and your loved ones with current Illinois law and Village of Grayslake municipal code regarding the use of micromobility vehicles. In recent weeks our area has experienced several serious crashes involving these types of vehicles and traditional motor vehicles. We need your help to avoid another preventable incident.
