Feeling very fortunate for all of the generous support we've received over the past 24 hours! A BIG thank you to everyone who donated to our campaign during this year's Give Big Green Bay! Between our generous donors and the match we'll receive from the Green Bay Packers Foundation in partnership with the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, we raised more than $8,000!! We are looking forward to all of the positive work we can accomplish over the next year to help improve soil health in the Lower Fox Watershed, while reducing nutrient and soil loss! Because of the community's support, we'll be to help farmers protect one of our greatest assets - Green Bay!! Thank you again for the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful event!

We're very excited to announce that we'll be participating in this year's Give Big Green Bay! The Fox Demo Farms works to assist local farms who are working hard to plant cover crops on their farms. Cover crops help reduce sediment and nutrients from entering the Fox River and bay of Green Bay. Building a healthy water system, will require everyone doing their part and supporting each other. If you're interested in supporting our farmers, then please consider giving on February 18 - 19, you will have 24 hours (one day!) to give where your heart is! This was a terrific meeting!
We wrapped up January with the 5th Annual Fox Watershed Farmer Roundtable! We had a great turnout of more than 130 people. Thank you to our awesome farmers and agronomists who shared their success stories of 2019 - and yes, there were successes! Using cover crops and no-till helped these farms get into their fields earlier, provide alternative opportunities to apply manure, and improve trafficability during harvest. Thanks to all who attended and for those who served on the planning committee, especially the financial and planning support from the Alliance for the Great Lakes. #HealthySoilsHealthyFarms

Check it out! Last fall, Dairyland Farms no-till planted more than 100 lbs. of triticale. Not only did they have additional forage this spring, but they helped build soil health on these fields. Building soil structure helps increase the carrying capacity and reduce the likelihood of ripping up fields. Contact us if you'd like to learn more about these practices and how to implement them on your fields! #HealthySoilsHealthyFarms

Have you found yourself in a situation similar to this? Green Bay hit record precipitation levels in early October, which made for a tough spring and an even more challenging fall...however, it doesn't have to be that way. As we've highlighted in previous posts, there are farms who are managing the record rains because they have built soil structure on their land, which has improved infiltration rates, as well as carrying capacity. The big question...how to get to that point, when your fields are torn up after harvest this year?? Check out this video to learn about ways to fix a damaged field! #HealthySoilsHealthyFarms
