Survey123 for ArcGIS

The Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission is assisting the City of Manitowoc with the development of a city-wide bicycle and pedestrian master plan that will establish a framework to increase walking and biking and improve connectivity in the city. The resulting plan will be used as a tool to guide the City of Manitowoc in their efforts toward becoming a more pedestrian friendly community.

On Tuesday, we launched an online survey and interactive mapping exercise to collect input from the public. Manitowoc community members are encouraged to participate in the survey/mapping exercise to share their experiences walking and biking within the city as well as their preferences on where they would like to see biking and walking improvements made throughout the city. The survey will help planners identify existing and desired routes, key destinations, and barriers and challenges to the existing network. The survey will be available on this website through April, 2020.

It's National Groundwater Awareness Week!

Did you know that:

💧 Wisconsin leads the nation in the number of public water systems that rely on groundwater.

💧 Over 97% of agricultural irrigation water and more than one-third of the water used for commercial and industrial purposes come from groundwater supplies.

💧 Many ecosystems in Wisconsin are strongly dependent on groundwater availability and groundwater quality.

Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership

Good news from Green Bay last night! A unanimous decision was passed on the ordinance banning coal-tar based sealants and a resolution recommending a state wide ban. Tar-based pavement sealants are the primary source of toxic PAH pollution in urban landscapes and are harmful to human health and hurt fish and aquatic life in our lakes and rivers.
Since receiving a grant in July 2019 from the Fund for Lake Michigan, LNRP, through its staff and contractor Jon Richards, were able to meet with local officials to pass ordinances banning coal tar sealant in the Cities of Racine, Oak Creek, Plymouth, and Sturgeon Bay.
