Funding Opportunity for all Wisconsin Industry Sectors!

The Department of Workforce Development's Office of Skills Development (OSD) Wisconsin Fast Forward standard (WFF) grant program was created to help fund the development of innovative and collaborative customized worker training programs that target unemployed, underemployed, and incumbent workers.

The grants are available to all industry sectors and companies of any size. Grant award amounts may range from $5,000 to $400,000. Cash or in-kind match equal to 50% of the grant award amount is required.

Funding Opportunity for Local Units of Government

The State of Wisconsin received CDBG-CV funding for Wisconsin non-entitlement units of government through the CARES Act. These funds must be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to Coronavirus.

The Northeastern Housing Region, which includes Door, Marinette, Brown, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, and Sheboygan counties, was awarded $4,866,697, while the Northwoods Housing Region, which includes Oconto and Florence Counties, was awarded $1,449,662. Applications will be compete against other applications within their region.

Those wishing to apply must complete and submit an Intent to Apply Form (ITA) which will identify the applicant, proposed use of funds, readiness to implement, and delivery strategy for the project or program.

Potential Projects may include but are not limited to the following: Renter Assistance/Emergency Payments for up to six months, Business Assistance Grants, PPE Purchases, Transitional Housing, Childcare/Daycare Centers, Homeless Shelters, Senior Centers, Drug Abuse Programs
Isolation Centers, Temporary Housing, Assistance to communities to address LMI student needs to access online classes

SPRINT Challenge | U.S. Economic Development Administration

Funding Opportunity for Local Units of Government and Counties!

Last Wednesday (9/14), the Economic Development Administration (EDA) released the new Scaling Pandemic Resilience Through Innovation and Technology (SPRINT) Challenge, a $25 million national competition funded by the CARES Act which will enable organizations across the country to address the economic, health, and safety risks caused by the coronavirus pandemic through entrepreneurship and innovation.

Individual grants will be awarded up to $500,000 over a 12-month period of performance or up to $750,000 over an 18-month period of performance. Eligibility is open to cities, counties, states, other political subdivisions of states, and Indian Tribes; public or private nonprofits; institutions of higher education; and EDA-Economic Development Districts.

Project focuses may include, but are not limited to, scaling innovative biotechnology, health security, and supply chain technologies and solutions to market; increasing regional, national, and government connectivity across innovation clusters to support commercialization and entrepreneurship; developing new and unique investment capital models to address the financial needs of entrepreneurs; or developing and scaling innovative entrepreneurship support models to address the virtual and remote work environment of the pandemic.

The deadline to apply for the Challenge is December 3, 2020.

Funding Opportunity for Small Businesses!

The We're All In Small Business Grant Phase 2 program is designed to help small businesses get back on their feet as they re-emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, while also encouraging adoption of best practices to keep employees, customers, and communities safe.

Funded by the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the We're All In Small Business Grant Phase 2 program will provide grants to Wisconsin small businesses to assist with the costs of business interruption or for health and safety improvements, wages and salaries, rent, mortgages, and inventory.

Applications will be accepted between 8:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19 and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, November 2.

Answer to last week's "Where are we Wednesday”: The City of Sheboygan! The picture is of the Civil War monument in Falls Park that honors those who fought for the Union.

Speaking of Sheboygan, we have worked hard with Shoreline Metro to put together the 2021-2024 Transportation Improvement Program which is now available for public review and comment. Anyone interested in having their voice heard about this plan can view the plan on our website at: https://baylakerpc.org/sheboygan-mpo/transportation-improvement-program-tip or in several public locations around the Sheboygan area! (Please exercise caution when viewing the plan at one of the public locations).

The public comment period will continue through October 30, 2020.

This video is part of the East River Revitalization Plan developed by the Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission in partnership with The Nature Conservancy and was made possible through funding from the Wisconsin Coastal Management Program. Footage was shot in Fall of 2019 by MRG Media, LLC with the purpose of capturing the shoreline conditions.

Do you want your photos included in one of our plans? Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission is requesting bicycle and pedestrian photos from members of the public to be included in the City of Manitowoc Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan!

Photos taken in the City of Manitowoc are ideal but other photos taken within the region or elsewhere in the state will also be considered. Scenic photos of trails, paths, or other bicycle or pedestrian related facilities are preferable along with photos of people using the trails, paths, bike lanes, etc.

Please send us a Facebook message with your photo, name, and location of the photo. If your photo is selected to be included in the plan, credit will be given to the owner of the photo in the caption.

Answer to last week's "Where are we Wednesday”: The Oconto County Courthouse. This stunning courthouse was originally built in 1891 and has since been remodeled numerous times. A fish and a log symbol can be found just above the front entrance and symbolizes Oconto’s main industries. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places: Wisconsin.

The Oconto County Board recently adopted the Oconto County Hazard Mitigation Plan that was completed by Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission. Please check our website in the near future to view the final plan.

Have you seen our most recent completed plan? The Manitowoc County 20-Year Comprehensive Plan Update was completed and approved by the Manitowoc County Board last month. The plan involves an online story map that offers a different perspective as it includes a variety of interaction tools that allow the viewer to dive deeper into the plan content. DOA "We're All In" - DOA Grants

Attention all units of local government: have you been reimbursed for your unbudgeted COVID-19 related expenses?

The Routes to Recovery Program has allocated grant funding for all Wisconsin counties, cities, villages and towns to provide reimbursements for unbudgeted expenditures incurred this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Counties and municipalities may be reimbursed for government expenditures that were: 1) unbudgeted, 2) necessary to respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency, and 3) incurred on or after March 1, 2020.

Today is the last day of the September reporting period to submit eligible expenses for reimbursement. The next reporting period (November 7 to 18) will be the last reporting period to submit eligible expenses for reimbursement.
