Brown County Traffic Safety Commission Working together to keep Brown County, WI safer for drivers, passengers, bikers, and pedestrians.

Each year in every county in Wisconsin, a group of local citizens meet at least quarterly to review and make recommendations about traffic safety problems. Members include representatives from law enforcement, education, the legal profession, medicine, highway engineering, highway safety and citizen groups concerned about traffic safety.

Mission: Continuously strive to improve traffic safety in the driving environment of Brown County through a working relationship with citizens, business and government agencies in Brown County.

Statewide Tornado Drills Postponed until Friday. Drills will still occur at 1:45pm and 6:45pm on Friday.

STATEWIDE TORNADO DRILL POSTPONED:

Wisconsin Emergency Management and the National Weather Service have determined that the Statewide Tornado Drill will be postponed until Friday, April 12th. The two drills on Friday will still take place at 1:45pm and 6:45pm. Please share.

Tomorrow, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) and Emergency Alert System (EAS). The WEA portion of the test commences at 1:18 p.m., and the EAS portion follows at 1:20 p.m. The test will assess the operational readiness of the infrastructure for distribution of a national message and determine whether improvements are needed.

Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week is almost over. But there’s time for one more question: What should you do if you’re outside when a tornado strikes? First, seek shelter in a sturdy building. If you cannot get to shelter, stay in your vehicle with the seatbelt on and place your head below the windows. Do not seek shelter under an overpass.
