💙 We’re back, Green Tree!

We’re kicking off a new season of Democrats for Green Tree, and this year, we’re trading a little of the hustle for more conversation, connection, and community.

Last season, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. This season, we want to make more time to get to know each other, share ideas, talk about what’s happening in our community and our country, and enjoy being neighbors.

Of course, we’ll still find plenty of ways to make a difference—and our regular e-blast will keep you posted on opportunities to get involved in Green Tree and around the region.

Join us for our first event of the 2026-2027 season!

☕️💌 Sips & Stamps!
September 26 | 10–11:30 AM

Grab a cup of coffee, a pastry, and a seat at the table with Democrats for Green Tree and our friends from The Grey Brigade of Dormont.

Come for the coffee. Stay for the conversation. And if you’re feeling civic-minded, PERK UP THE VOTE by writing a postcard encouraging a voter to cast their ballot. 💌

No speeches. No pressure. Just neighbors, good conversation, and maybe a little caffeine-fueled democracy.

👋 Kid- and family-friendly!

RSVP and come hang out with us! We can’t wait to see you. 💙

Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸

Hello Green Tree Democrats,

Today marks 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. 🇺🇸

250 years ago, America committed itself to a radical idea: that ordinary people could govern themselves. It was not a promise that democracy would be easy, or that our nation would be perfect. It was simply a declaration that we believed we could do better.

For some, the daily news cycle has left you feeling disappointed, frustrated, or even in despair. Looking at our country today, it's understandable to wonder whether we've lost our footing.

But America's story has never been one of uninterrupted progress. It's been a story of striving.

250 years ago, a group of rebellious British colonists looked at the world around them and dared to say, "We can do better." They placed their faith not in certainty, but in possibility. And they did not get it right the first time.

Our country’s first framework for self-government only lasted eight years, and revealed serious weaknesses. Rather than abandon the experiment, they learned from the mistakes and wrote the Constitution, knowing their work would never be finished but always tested.

There have been moments of remarkable progress and moments of profound regression. The struggle over what liberty, equality, justice, and self-government require of us has never ended.

That struggle is not a sign that democracy is failing. It is evidence that democracy is still alive.

Today, as we commemorate the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, let us celebrate more than a moment in our history. Let us renew our commitment to the idea that inspired it.

Let us reaffirm our commitment to the work of self-governance.

Every generation of Americans must decide whether democracy is simply our inheritance, or a legacy and an ideal we are called to uphold every day.

Today, may we recommit ourselves to that idea and that legacy, with a conviction and recognition that the next chapter of the American experiment is ours to write. ❤️🤍💙

Happy 4th of July. Here's to the ongoing work of creating a more perfect union.

The weather is throwing us for a loop today. We are going to change up our meeting location from Hale Park to the Green Tree Municipal Garden Gazebo at 3PM. If it really starts pouring on us, we'll wrap up in the Library.

We will have activities for the children, and (assuming the weather holds) Aylesa will walk everyone through the garden to discuss all the work the Garden Club and Bird Town are preparing for.

We are so excited to support the efforts of the Green Tree Democratic Committee as we move toward the General Election this November!

This will be an all hands on deck election season!

Let’s get to work! 💙

Hello Green Tree Democrats,

On June 17, we gathered for the first time as your newly elected Democratic Committee.

Around the table were familiar faces and new voices, longtime community leaders and first-time committee members, all united by a shared commitment to serving Green Tree and moving our Democratic community forward—together. 💙

The months ahead will bring plenty of work, and we're excited to get started. The future of Green Tree will be shaped by neighbors coming together. By people who believe that every conversation matters, every volunteer makes a difference, and every voice has a role in shaping what's next.

Together, we represent the many stories that make our community special. We are veterans, public servants, attorneys, college students, lifelong residents, and newly arrived neighbors. Our experiences may be different, but we are connected by our belief in democracy, service, and the power of everyday people working together for a shared purpose.

Over the next four years, we look forward to listening, learning, and working alongside you to strengthen our community. We are honored by your trust and grateful for the opportunity to serve.

📅 Whether you've been involved for years or are just looking for a way to connect, we'd love to welcome you. Join us on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Green Tree Municipal Building.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, July 28.

As we prepare for our final event of the summer season, Huddle at Hale, TOMORROW at 3 PM, we're looking back at some of the fun and fellowship we’ve had over the past several months (check out the photos).

☀️ We hope you'll join us at Hale Park TOMORROW, June 27, at 3 PM as we celebrate everything we've accomplished together over the past several months.

Thanks to the dedication of our members and volunteers, we've:
🐦 Helped secure Green Tree's Bird Town certification
🪏 Organized two trail clean-up days
👕 Coordinated a borough-wide clothing drive benefiting Pittsburgh-area families
💪🏼 Supported community-minded Democrats throughout our state senatorial district by appearing in campaign commercials and print materials during the primary election
🌎 Co-hosted ally training with the Dormont Democratic Committee and Casa San José
👋🏻 Held monthly community meetings that connected neighbors with local organizations and opportunities to make a difference

It's been an incredible season of advocacy, service, and community-building—and we're just getting started.

As we take a brief pause from programming in July and August, we'll be preparing an exciting lineup of fall events and initiatives.

👉🏼 We hope you'll join us Saturday as we reflect on what we've accomplished and look ahead to what's next!
