As we prepare for our final event of the summer season, Huddle at Hale, TOMORROW at 3 PM, we're looking back at some of the fun and fellowship we’ve had over the past several months (check out the photos).

☀️ We hope you'll join us at Hale Park TOMORROW, June 27, at 3 PM as we celebrate everything we've accomplished together over the past several months.

Thanks to the dedication of our members and volunteers, we've:
🐦 Helped secure Green Tree's Bird Town certification
🪏 Organized two trail clean-up days
👕 Coordinated a borough-wide clothing drive benefiting Pittsburgh-area families
💪🏼 Supported community-minded Democrats throughout our state senatorial district by appearing in campaign commercials and print materials during the primary election
🌎 Co-hosted ally training with the Dormont Democratic Committee and Casa San José
👋🏻 Held monthly community meetings that connected neighbors with local organizations and opportunities to make a difference

It's been an incredible season of advocacy, service, and community-building—and we're just getting started.

As we take a brief pause from programming in July and August, we'll be preparing an exciting lineup of fall events and initiatives.

There’s always something happening in Green Tree! 🌳

✅ The Green Tree Democratic Committee held its public reorganization meeting last week.
🎉Congratulations to Sam Salopek, elected Committee Chair; Jeff Natale, elected Vice Chair; and Marc Daffner, elected Secretary. Thank you to everyone who attended and participated—strong communities are built when people get involved and make their voices heard.

🚒 The Green Tree Volunteer Fire Company is collecting water and sports drinks to support our first responders during the summer months. If you're able, please consider contributing environmentally friendly options like recycled water bottles and electrolyte packets to help keep those who serve our community hydrated and safe.

🐦 Join us at the July 6 Borough Council Meeting as Green Tree officially celebrates its Bird Town Certification! This achievement was made possible through community advocacy, dedicated volunteers, and the hard work of borough staff. We are incredibly proud to have helped champion this effort and hope you'll join us in celebrating this important milestone.

☀️ And don't forget to mark your calendar for our final Summer Huddle on June 27 at Hale Park. Join us for updates, conversation, and community as we reflect on recent successes and look ahead to what's next.

📅 Following the June 27 Huddle, Democrats for Green Tree will take a summer pause from programming during July and August. This break will allow us to celebrate our accomplishments, evaluate our impact, refine our goals, and prepare for an exciting fall season. While our events will be on hold, we'll continue sharing important community updates and opportunities to stay engaged.

Held every four years following the primary election, this meeting marks the start of a new committee term as members elect officers, set priorities, and chart a course for the years ahead.

Whether you're a registered Democrat looking to get involved, interested in local government, or simply curious about how grassroots politics works, you're invited to attend. Meet neighbors, connect with local leaders, and learn how the committee supports Democratic values and civic engagement in Green Tree and across Allegheny County.

We'll kick off the morning with a brief community huddle to share updates on our ongoing projects and initiatives, then head out for a family-friendly hike through the beautiful trails of the Green Tree Nature Center.

Yesterday’s election was a powerful reminder of what makes our community strong: people showing up, getting involved, and making their voices heard.

Thank you to everyone who came out to vote, volunteered, and connected with neighbors at the polls. Your energy, commitment, and belief in our shared values keep our local Democratic Party welcoming, engaged, and moving forward.

As we mark the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding, we’re reminded that democracy is not passive — it’s something we continue to practice. Every vote cast is part of a once revolutionary idea that ordinary people have the ability to shape the future. 🗳️

Primary elections matter because they help shape the future of our communities and determine the leaders who will appear on the ballot this fall.

What can happen in 6️⃣ months when a community decides to show up for each other?

A lot.

6 months ago, Democrats for Green Tree held our very first meeting — in a living room. Since then, neighbors, volunteers, and community members have come together to create real impact across Green Tree.

Together, we’ve:
🔹 Helped 6 individuals run for Democratic Committee positions
🔹 Hosted public meetings and community events
🔹 Organized civic engagement opportunities, including a No Kings Pre-Rally and Petition Signing Event
🔹 Supported local organizations through donation drives and partnerships
🔹 Led a community trail clean-up and shared Lyme disease prevention education
🔹 Successfully advocated for Green Tree Borough Resolutions #1383, #1384, and #1385 supporting conservation efforts and Bird Town certification
🔹 Connected residents to Frontline Dignity Rapid Response Training and co-hosted Ally Training through Casa San Jose
🔹 Supported implementation of the A-Team mobile crisis intervention resource

This progress happened because people chose to get involved, speak up, volunteer, organize, and care about the future of our community.

And we’re not slowing down.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this work so far. We’re excited for what comes next as we continue building a more welcoming, engaged, and sustainable Green Tree together.
