Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

We are still accepting donations and are currently in urgent need of cloth masks for our non-patient facing staff and patients who are not symptomatic. This helps us preserve our medical-grade mask supply for our staff and patients who need it most. If you are interested in donating cloth masks, please follow the link below for instructions and best practices from the CDC. Included is both sew and no sew options. Donations can be dropped off at Greenfield Lumber or call Public Health at 641-743-6173 and we can arrange for pick up. We are grateful for the community’s support during this difficult time.

Nominate an ACHS Nurse for The Daisy Award!!

Adair County Health System is proud to honor our outstanding nurses with the Daisy Award. Share your story about a nurse's compassionate and remarkable care while demonstrating clinical excellence.

About The DAISY Award:

The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the autoimmune disease ITP in 1999.

During his hospitalization, the Barnes family deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. More than 2,500 health care facilities in 15 countries and 50 states now honor extraordinary nurses with The DAISY Award.

The DAISY Award Honoree from ACHS will be recognized at a public ceremony in her/his department and will receive an award certificate.

Eligibility:

All Adair County Health System nurses who exemplify our Mission, Values, and demonstrate our Vision are eligible to be nominated. DAISY Award honorees are nurses who provide compassionate and remarkable care while demonstrating clinical excellence. Anyone – patients, patients’ family members, staff members, physicians, and visitors– are welcome to nominate an extraordinary nurse for this honor.

Ways to submit a nomination:
Please email Amy O’Rourke
[email protected] for a nomination form and return it no later than May 1, 2020.

A message from Dr. Aaron McClure:
For parents who may be wondering whether or not they should take their healthy children to their pediatrician for vaccinations right now, the answer is yes. We encourage parents to make sure their children are staying on their vaccination schedule. The AAP recommends that children 2 years of age or under and 5 years of age should be seen to screen their developmental milestones and receive their immunization. Our clinics have precautions in place so they can continue to care for well patients. If you have any questions, we encourage you to call the clinic at 641-743-6189

Help sew masks for MercyOne!

UPDATE: We will still be accepting masks that have been already made. These can be dropped off at Greenfield Lumber. The ones that are donated will be used to go over the N95s that our staff is using at this time, to be able to conserve our supply.
At this time, MercyOne is working with CDC, to make sure that we are sharing the most effective version of the fabric mask. We will update once we receive the guidance from MercyOne.

We have had outpouring support from our community. A lot of questions about making fabric mask. We appreciate your willingness to help us during this time.

There are a lot of patterns out there. We are asking that you use the pattern and instructions from the MercyOne website.

Please put in plastic bag and drop off at Greenfield Lumber during their regular business hours.

If you have questions please contact us on this post, private message or email [email protected]

Scheduled Dr. apt this am with our Dr. David Black. I have to commend him and his staff at Adair County Health in Stuart, for how thorough I was treated as I entered the office. Questions, make and model of my SUV, temp and finger monitor etc. They are on it! Then escorted to another room with chairs placed at a distance. All concerned for our well being and safety during this virus time. Mask if needed and everything sanitized and wiped down. Thank you Doc and staff! You are the best! Colonoscopy for next week got canceled. I wanted to get it over with but safety first. Now we'll be saving on the T paper. :)
Hope everyone will join Marcia Hendricks and Jane Ernst, Tuesday, April 23rd at 6:30 PM at the Warren Cultural Center for the Successful Communities Speaker Series: Health Care in Adair County. Soulshine Food Truck will be on the Square prior to the event. Grab a bite to eat, bring it upstairs, and join other friends for good conversation and whole lot of learning. Hope to see you there.
When is the Senior Life Solutions building going to begin.
