The Digitization Unit, a part of the Electronic Resources and Information Technologies (ERIT) Department, is responsible for Digital Greensboro and for the digitization of primary source materials and other historical and archival resources both within the Univers

ity Libraries and for external keepers of unique historical material, including UNCG faculty and local cultural heritage organizations. Currently staffed by one full-time employees, three employees shared with other areas, and several student assistants, the Digitization Unit handles a variety of projects within Digital Greensboro. Photograph part of the Military Women Across the Nation Collection. Military Women across the Nation (MWAN) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to keep military women, past and present, informed of benefits associated with their military service; keep female veterans connected while preserving their common history; provide opportunities for women in tomorrow's armed forces through networking, socializing, and serving with and for other female veterans. WAVES National, (established in 1979) was a Sea Service Women’s organization for women who have honorably served, are currently serving, or have retired from one of the sea services, reserve components, or supporting nurse corps: U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, or U.S. Maritime Service. It was reorganized in 2015 to expand to all women from all US Military Services.

We have to admit that the Wyndham Championship, which starts today, had a much (ahem) groovier logo back when it was still the Greater Greensboro Open (GGO). This photo is from the 1976 Pro-Am and is from one of the scrapbooks of Jim Melvin, Greensboro's longest serving mayor, which we're currently digitizing in a project with the Greensboro History Museum.
