Please be advised.

The Greene County Board of Commissioners recently became aware of a cybersecurity incident. Out of an abundance of caution, the County has temporarily taken its network offline while we investigate the situation and work to restore services safely.

Public Notice

As we get closer to the November General Election, your mailbox will likely be flooded with voter registration mailers from third-party organizations. While these mailings may appear official, they are not sent by the Georgia Secretary of State's Office or your local elections office.

This week, I personally received one of these mailers addressed to my father, stating that "our records show you may not be registered to vote in Georgia." My father passed away, and his voter registration was cancelled on August 27, 2022, after he was properly marked as deceased.

It is unfortunate that third-party organizations are permitted to send voter registration forms and notices to individuals whose registrations have already been cancelled due to death or other valid reasons. Election officials work tirelessly year-round to maintain accurate voter rolls. Mailings like these can create unnecessary confusion and undermine public confidence in the election process.

I encourage our legislators to take a closer look at these practices and consider requiring these organizations to make it abundantly clear that their mailings are not from an official election office—or to reevaluate whether these types of unsolicited mailings should be allowed at all.

The voter registration application included in these mailers is the official State of Georgia registration form. However, the mailing itself did not originate from the Secretary of State's Office or your local elections office.

If you ever have questions about your voter registration status, rely on official sources. Contact your local elections office or visit www.mvp.sos.ga.gov to verify your information.

Stay alert. Stay informed. Use trusted sources.
