MEET THE CANDIDATES!

Local government has a direct impact on our everyday lives, and township officials play an important role in serving our communities—from helping families in times of need to supporting fire protection, maintaining cemeteries, managing township finances, and making sure taxpayer dollars are used responsibly.

As we head toward Election Day, we want to help our voters get to know the local candidates running for Township Trustee and Township Board.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be introducing the candidates, sharing a little about who they are, why they’re running, and what they hope to bring to their township.

We believe informed voters make stronger communities. Take some time to get to know the candidates, learn about the offices they are seeking, and decide who best represents your values and priorities.

Stay tuned for our Meet the Candidates series!

In August, Marion County became the latest county in Indiana to adopt a moratorium on data centers.

At least 40 counties to date have passed some kind of data center ordinance, including:

🟢 13 regulatory ordinances
🟡 24 moratoriums
🔴 3 bans

ERI recently updated its data center fact sheet to inform public discussion across the state concerning the environmental impacts of these facilities and the legal requirements developers must follow.

When we talk about local government, some of the most important decisions happen right here at home.

The Decatur County Council serves as the county’s fiscal branch of government and plays a major role in determining how taxpayer dollars are budgeted, appropriated, and spent. Council members help approve the county budget, establish tax rates and levies, consider additional funding requests, approve grants and abatements, and set compensation for county employees.

With that responsibility comes an important job: representing the taxpayers of Decatur County and making thoughtful decisions about the future of our community.

As we approach Election Day, we want to help you get to know the candidates who are stepping forward to serve on the Decatur County Council.

In our Meet the Candidates series, we’ll introduce you to the people behind the names on the ballot—learning about their backgrounds, why they’re running, the issues they believe matter most, and their vision for Decatur County.

Get to know the candidates. Ask questions. Stay informed. And make your voice heard at the ballot box.

Because local elections matter—and decisions made at the County Council level affect all of us.
