No single organization can meet every need in our community. That is why we share helpful programs and resources from our community partners whenever we can.

United Way of the Lakelands Partners in the HUB gives you the chance to speak directly with several organizations in one place and learn what assistance may be available.

Upper Savannah Area Agency on Aging also helps older adults, caregivers, and families find local resources, even when the assistance they need is not provided directly through our agency. Adults age 60 and older, caregivers, and family members may contact us at 864-941-8077 for information and assistance.

Laurens County has a new Food Pantry. The pantry will operate on the third Thursday of every month from 1 to 2 p.m. at 2536 Indian Mound Road. The pantry is available to anyone.

We know that sometimes people need food or other assistance sooner than we're able to provide services. Many of our programs require an assessment to determine eligibility, and because the need is currently greater than the resources available, some services also have waiting lists.

That's why we share resources like these community gardens. We want people to know about every available option, especially when they need help right away.
If you're age 60 or older, the Upper Savannah Area Agency on Aging may also be able to help through our FREE Senior Nutrition Programs.

🍽️ Congregate Meals – Enjoy a hot meal at your local Senior Center while spending time with others, participating in activities, and staying active. Transportation may be available for those who qualify.

🏠 Home-Delivered Meals – Nutritious meals for eligible homebound seniors.

No one organization can meet every need, but by working together, we can connect more people with the resources and support they need.

Family caregivers often become quieter over time, not because they no longer have something to say, but because life has changed. Carrying constant responsibility, processing difficult emotions, and living a reality that few people fully understand can make silence feel easier than explanation. For many caregivers, becoming quieter is not about withdrawing from others; it becomes a way of protecting their peace. When every day already demands so much emotionally, choosing where to spend the little energy that remains becomes an act of self-preservation. Sometimes, the quiet is simply where a family caregiver finds enough peace to keep going.

🚨Scam Alert: Be Aware of SLED Impersonation Text Messages🚨

Scammers are posing as agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to trick people into sending money.

⚠️ Here's how the scam works:
• They claim to be a SLED agent (such as "Lt. Brandon Davis").
• They say they're investigating a case involving you.
• They ask you to call them.
• They then demand money to "make the case go away."

Remember: SLED personnel will NEVER ask you to pay money to dismiss charges or resolve a criminal matter.

If you receive a message like this:
✅ Do not respond.
✅ Do not send money.
✅ Block the number.
✅ Report it to your local law enforcement agency.

Please help protect your friends and family by sharing this post. Awareness is one of the best defenses against scams.
