The project is done! If you’d like to see it, it’s just south of Meridian and Lowrie on the gravel road to the right as you’re heading south on Meridian. Thanks to everyone who helped, including Mike Dunlap, my parents and grandfather, and friends from crew, band, and football.

This Saturday at 9 I will need some volunteers to help clear out out invasive phragmite along the shoreline where my project is being installed. If you can help let me know. Please bring a shovel or strong trimmers and a pair of waders to keep your legs and feet dry. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

I have achieved my fundraising goal for this project and want to thank everyone who donated! I now have funds for the deck materials, rentals for cleaning the (invasive) phragmite brush along the shoreline, signage, and everything I need to make this deck a reality. Thank you to all 39 donors, especially the Grosse Ile Firefighters Association, Brandon McCall, my former cub master Rocky Buehler, fellow botanist Kevin Berwald, Amy Paul, Cynthia Simon, and everyone else who supported this project with their generous gifts. We will start construction in August!
