Grover Beach, California voters...there have been some who are questioning the transparency of the cities budget information.
To set the record straight: this Council and I have been (and will continue to be) very budget conscious.
Strong budget document (find it at https://www.grover.org/411/FY-2020-to-2021-Budget) that shows good revenues, prudent expenses and adequate reserves.
We always have numerous budget updates and conversations, recent examples include:
- February (Financial Forecast)
- March (Mid-Year Budget update & Goal setting workshop & CIP update)
- April (updates as part of COVID items)
- May (Financial and Budget updates)
- June (Budget adoption)
- Treasurer Reports for all check runs and K-14 Bond Reporting each month
- Numerous posts on social media - Facebook and Twitter
- City newsletter (Grover Gazette) to over 2,000 email addresses
In other words...if you want to be informed... Grover Beach is providing multiple ways for you to be involved.
I'm proud of our transparency and, as your Mayor, will continue to fight for balanced budgets that provide city services with citizen input and oversight.
