We are proud to show these great safety improvements recently installed by Oklahoma Department of Transportation officials at SH33 and Broadway, just west of Guthrie. After the recent rash of fatality crashes on SH33, GFD and The City of Guthrie, OK - Municipal Government officials met with ODOT, Representatives Garry Mize and John Pfeiffer as well as Senator Chuck Hall to discuss ways to help prevent these incidents in the future.

Thanks to ODOT Division 4 Engineer Trenton January for his immediate action to install these flashing LED stop signs at the intersection for north and southbound traffic on Broadway. Future improvements are slated for this intersection and SH33 as funding becomes available.

We aren't just here to respond to emergencies after they happen. We will always work to try and prevent these types of tragedies through teamwork and cooperation!

FLOODING UPDATE....FRIDAY, MAY 28, 2021, 7am

Both the Cottonwood and Cimarron are cresting this morning, staying well below flood stage. While there may be some very minor flooding in low lying areas due to the quick falling heavy rains last night, there should be no major impacts noticed.

We will update further if conditions change.

It may not be the best "lake weather" day, but we don't always get to respond in good weather. Today, red crew is utilizing their day off, so they aren't interrupted by emergency calls, to get some water rescue and boat operation training in at Guthrie Lake.

We really want to make this parade happen! We need to know if you're planning to attend with a rig, so please get with the OSFA office and let them know. If we don't have a decent number sign up, we will be forced to cancel the parade unfortunately. Please share!

Bring your truck to convention and join the parade! 🚒🚑🚨

Four years ago this morning, Logan County Sheriff's Office Deputy David Wade was tragically gunned down while serving an eviction notice near Mulhall, OK. Today, we remember this hero, father, brother and son taken from this earth far too soon; and work to ensure his memory is never forgotten.

This morning, shortly after 10am, crews responded to reported residential structure fire near Highway 74C and N. Broadway, NW of Guthrie. Crews arrived on scene within 10 minutes to find the eastern half of a 2 story wood frame farmhouse fully involved with heavy fire, being fed by a stiff NW wind. Crescent Fire Department responded via our automatic aid agreement and Deer Creek Fire Protection District responded an additional tanker as there are no fire hydrants in this area of the county. All family members were able to exit the structure unharmed, but unfortunately the home was a total loss. The Logan County Chapter of the American Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents.

Thank you to our neighbors at Crescent and Deer Creek, as well as Logan County Emergency Management and Logan County Sheriff's Office for the assistance.

We are grateful to our brothers with Oklahoma City Fire Department for their donation of surplus supply hose to be shared with our automatic aid partners at Sooner Fire Department, Coyle Fire Department and Crescent Fire Department. This will allow these departments to have the same size supply hose when responding to assist GFD crews, negating the need for several adapters and the use of smaller hose. We were also able to grab some attack hose for our neighbors at Twin Lakes VFD to help replace some of what was lost in their devastating fire a few weeks ago. We are grateful to our neighbors in OKC for their assistance in helping equip our fellow Logan County departments.

A special thanks, as well, to our neighbors over at Guthrie ACE Hardware for the forklift assistance unloading the hose!

Tonight, during the March meeting of the Logan County Fire Chiefs Association, Oklahoma Forestry Services State Forester Mark Goeller and Fire Management Chief Andy James presented Twin Lakes VFD Fire Chief Mike Gilliam and Assistant Chief Duane Dahlem with full sets of wildland personal protective equipment for all of the TLFD personnel! This project was funded through the OFS Volunteer Fire Assistance program. As you may remember, TLFD lost their station and all of their equipment, including their PPE in a fire at their fire station last month.

Folks, the fire danger is very high this week. Please exercise caution when doing anything that may cause a spark. We still have people attempting to do burning activities, even with the weather as dry and windy as it is.

You may see more fire units responding initially, as all of the fire chiefs in Logan County have agreed to activate our Wildland Automatic Response (WAR) days for part of this week. That means that for any grass fire that is reported, the closest three fire departments to the fire will automatically be dispatched simultaneously. It proved its worth today on several calls, as more resources arrived on scene quicker, allowing for faster extinguishment of the fire.

Please play it safe this week and report all smoke quickly!
