Political violence should never become a new normal in America. You can love or hate an individual’s idea, but you cannot deny their right to speak it. The strength of this nation has always rested not in the silence of its people, but in their voices — raised in debate, in disagreement, and in hope. When we trade words for bullets, or ballots for fear, we are no longer building a democracy, we are dismantling it. Let us choose instead the harder path — to argue without hatred, to stand firm without malice, and to recognize that our common destiny binds us more tightly than our differences divide us.

By the grace of God, He allowed a 25-year-old punk kid to make history as the youngest elected official in the City of Guyton and in Effingham County. None of this would have been possible without Him. I want to thank God first, and I want to thank those who’ve stood by my side from day one and continue to stand by me now. This journey has been an adventure that was never boring. We may have hit a snag in the road, but remember: we don’t quit, we don’t cower, we don’t run. With God on our side, we endure, and we conquer.

“Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.” — Psalm 23:4

It truly baffles me that so many in our area are defending criminal undocumented immigrants. Why? Maybe it gives them a false sense of boldness or a misguided sense of courage. But here’s the reality: I’d love to see how bold they feel if they ever had to stand before the families of Laken Riley, Kate Steinle, or Mollie Tibbetts, and defend the actions of the undocumented immigrants who took the lives of their loved ones. These are the real consequences of ignoring the rule of law. This is not just a political issue—it’s a matter of public safety. We need strong borders, we need law and order, and we need to put the safety and well-being of Guyton families first. No exceptions.

Thank you, Dale Washburn for State House, for listening to the voice of the people and introducing a bill to eliminate these unconstitutional school zone cameras. It was never about the safety of the children—it was always about the money.

One of the arguments made tonight was that this ordinance would create crime—which is utterly and completely false. In fact, it would do the exact opposite.

I want the citizens of Guyton to know that I hear you. Safety is a top priority for you, just as it is for me. That’s why, as a council, I believe we should allow Guyton PD to enter into an agreement with ICE, known as the 287(g) program, to detain and deport criminal undocumented immigrants.

If you look at crime reports, you’ll see that many bad hombres are being housed in jails at the taxpayers’ expense. It’s time to clean up our streets once and for all.

Thank you for your input, Guyton!

This is truly a remarkable building. If you have never been, I highly recommend it. It was great to catch up with some old friends and make some new ones at the Capitol.

Tonight, The Mars Theatre put on an incredible show as part of their Rhythm and Songwriters series. Hosted by the talented Dean Sams from Lonestar and featuring the amazing Lauren Mascitti from American Idol, along with brilliant songwriters Clay Mills and Marty Dodson—it was a night to remember. If you missed it, don’t worry. They’ll be back next month with another great show, and I’d highly recommend checking it out.

President Trump signed his first piece of legislation today—the Laken Riley Act. This is a step toward strengthening our border, and that’s something that matters to communities all across this country, including right here in Guyton. When our border is secure, our neighborhoods are safer, and a safe border means a safe Guyton.

The Peach Pundit article exposes a troubling truth that many of us have long suspected: school zone cameras are not about safety—they're about revenue. Even worse, they undermine one of the most fundamental principles of our nation: the right to due process.

These cameras issue fines automatically, without giving citizens the opportunity to face their accuser or adequately challenge the citation. That’s not just bad policy—it’s unconstitutional. No government should sacrifice the rights of its citizens for a quick dollar, especially under the guise of protecting children.

If we truly care about safety, let’s invest in solutions that work—such as crossing guards, better signage, and improved infrastructure. We cannot rely on a system that tramples constitutional rights while failing to keep our kids safer.

This issue is about more than cameras or citations. It’s about standing up for the values we hold dear as Americans: fairness, accountability, and the protection of our liberties. Let’s reject these revenue schemes and fight for real solutions that respect our rights and actually make a difference.

We can do better, Effingham!

Today, we remember and honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader whose vision for equality and justice continues to inspire us all.

As Dr. King once said, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Let us carry this wisdom in our hearts and actions, standing together against injustice in all its forms.

I want to take a moment to commend Dale Washburn for State House of Macon for his leadership and courage in putting forth legislation to address an issue that affects communities across our state. By proposing a bill to bar cities and counties from enforcing this unconstitutional law, Representative Washburn is standing up for fairness, due process, and the fundamental rights that are the cornerstone of our democracy.

Laws should not circumvent the principles of justice, nor should they place undue burdens on citizens without proper checks and balances. This legislation reflects a commitment to accountability and ensures that our legal system operates in a manner that respects the rights of every individual. Representative Washburn’s efforts remind us of the power of thoughtful policymaking to bring about meaningful change, and I commend him for advancing this important conversation.

Automated school zone speed cameras: A good way to slow traffic around kids? Or a cash grab?
