We are so excited that our Junior County Commissioners have planned and will facilitate a Candidate Forum this Saturday, October 24 at 10:00 a.m. at the Allen Grove Rosenwald School on the campus of the 4-H Rural Life Center, 13763 NC Highway 903, Halifax, NC. Candidates for NC Senate, NC House, Halifax County Commissioner, Halifax County Sheriff, Clerk of Court, and Weldon City School Board will be in attendance to share their views. The public is invited to attend.

American Legion Post 38 hosted their annual First Responder Awards on October 5. There were honorees from the NC Highway Patrol, Halifax County NC Sheriff's Office, Halifax County EMS, Roanoke Rapids Police Department, and Roanoke Rapids Fire Department. We thank American Legion Post 38 for honoring our local heroes, and we are so grateful for the service of these men and women.

Halifax County was awarded Opioid Settlement Funding from 2022-2041. Want to know more? Contact Dr. Georgiana Couden, Opioid Settlement Coordinator to learn the history of the opioid epidemic, how we got these funds, and the guidelines to use them. She is available to present to any group of community members, in person or virtually, that is interested in learning more.
