The Erie County Fair Housing law will be officially signed by County Executive Mark Poloncarz on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. Arguably one of the biggest parts of this law is the fact that "Source of Income" discrimination will now be illegal throughout Erie County and not just in Hamburg, West Seneca and Buffalo.

If you are having trouble paying your mortgage and feel you may have to leave your home, PLEASE STAY! Call our office for foreclosure assistance or contact either Belmont Housing Resources or the Buffalo Urban League for FREE assistance.

This week (April 2nd - April 6th) is also National "Community Development Block Grant" week. The Town of Hamburg has received over $17,000,000 from the federal CDBG program. Many programs you have never heard of are funded through this valuable program. Without it, your town and village taxes would be much higher. Today starts "Fair Housing Month" in the Town of Hamburg and across our nation! This year, we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 also known as the "Fair Housing" Act. In Hamburg, NY, your rights are protected and backed by the most comprehensive "Fair Housing" Law in New York State. You can read our latest Fair Housing Law at the following link: http://www.townofhamburgny.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Hamburg-Fair-Housing-Law-2018.adm_.pdf
While your local home-town has the most comprehensive Fair Housing Law to protect you and your families rights, the current administration in Washington, DC is trying to gut Fair Housing laws and protections therein. Even the US Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) is reversing Fair Housing laws and language. Current HUD Secretary, Dr. Ben Carson recently proposed to eliminate the words "free from discrimination" and "inclusive" from their Mission Statement.
Your town, Hamburg, NY, proudly stands for & is behind the continued push for "Fair Housing" issues throughout Western New York! Hamburg, NY, THE leader in Fair Housing!
