"Working with our superheroes is one of the most rewarding and valuable experiences. I started working in this field right after graduating with a B.A in psychology. After taking several courses on child development and behavior analysis, my interest and passion for the field proved this was the perfect career for me.

At Sidekicks, I learned the importance of providing individualized support as a general instructor but also as a friend. I have developed very special relationships with our superheroes and I am grateful to be given the opportunity to work with them as they become independent individuals.

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) has completed a minimum of a master’s degree and/or additional graduate level coursework in applied behavior analysis.

While completing coursework, a candidate also completes a minimum of 1600 clinical hours working under a BCBA. Once those requirements are fulfilled, the candidate sits for a board certification exam.

Once certified, all BCBAs are required to recertify with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) every 2 years. As part of the recertification process, each BCBA is required to complete a minimum of 32 hours of continuing education. These continuing education courses cover a variety of topics or content. However, they must include at least 4 hours of ethical content and 3 hours of supervisory content during each certification cycle.

"I am in this field because I do not want to stand by and let kids fall through the cracks. I have seen peers of my own not receive the help that they needed to succeed. Sidekicks gives these kiddos every chance to make positive change in their lives and I’m just a vessel there to help them along their journey!

I will be starting a 2 year graduate program in August to become a pediatric speech pathologist and hopefully work within the Autism community to continue this amazing work. These kids are extraordinary and teach me new things each day."
