🚨 OHIO FAMILIES AMID AN EMERGENCY: Columbus politicians are trying to blow up our home healthcare system, and we need to fight back now.
The Ohio House Medicaid Committee is pushing a substitute version of House Bill 795. Tucked inside this bill is a devastating amendment that would completely ban Medicaid payments for family members providing personal care to loved ones with disabilities.
If you care for your spouse, child, parent, sibling, grandchild, or cousin through Ohio’s waiver system, this cruel bill will cut you off.
This isn't about convenience. Families didn’t step up to become providers because it was easy. They stepped in out of protection, survival, and love because the traditional healthcare staffing system collapsed, agencies failed them, or rural shortages left them with zero safe alternatives.
If H.B. 795 passes in its current form, the consequences will be immediate:
❌ Devastating caregiver shortages
❌ Massive disruptions to medically necessary care
❌ Increased hospitalizations
❌ Forced institutionalization of disabled Ohioans who deserve to live safely at home.
Ohio already ranks as the 7th-worst state in the country for health. Stripping away the backbone of our long-term care system moves us in the exact wrong direction. It violates basic person-centered principles and threatens family preservation. Our loved ones deserve choices, stability, and independence—not cruel political barriers.
