This summer, Chase has been given an incredible opportunity to participate in Home Away From Home Autism Center’s Road to Independence (RTI) Program. Through this program, Chase will receive hands-on training in life skills, social development, community engagement, safety awareness, and independent living skills that will help prepare him for a successful future.

🌱✨ Foundation Week Complete! ✨🌱

Today marked the final day of Foundation Week for one of our scholarship recipients, Chase Woods, and what a way to finish strong!

Chase spent the day serving his community at the Bloom Where You Are Planted, Inc. (BWYAP) outreach table at Lovejoy Kroger. He greeted customers, interacted with the public, shared information about our mission, and even helped sell hand sanitizer. Watching him step outside of his comfort zone and engage with others was amazing to see.

At the end of the day, Chase received his very first paycheck experience—earning a check along with cash tips for his hard work! The smile on his face said it all. 😊 Now whether that money survives a trip to the candy aisle is another story… 🍬🍫😂

What touched my heart most was what he said before leaving:

“Are we gonna do it again next week?”

That simple question reminded me why Foundation Week exists. It’s not just about teaching life skills, employment readiness, and community involvement—it’s about helping young people discover confidence, purpose, and a sense of accomplishment.

Chase, we are so proud of you! Thank you for your hard work, your positive attitude, and for bringing your unique personality and humor everywhere you go. You truly made this week special.

🍦✈️🏀 Foundation Week Spotlight: Chase Woods 🏀✈️🍦

Today I had the pleasure of meeting one of our Foundation Week Scholarship winners, Chase Woods, at one of his favorite places—Baskin-Robbins! 🍨

Since we all know Chase loves his sweets, it was only right that one of his gifts included some Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups! 😊 The smile on his face said it all.

This was our very first time meeting in person, and we had a wonderful conversation. I had the opportunity to learn more about Chase, his goals, and the dreams he has for his future. He shared that he would love to play basketball, run track, and is looking forward to the day he can drive independently. 🚗🏃🏽‍♂️🏀

What stood out most was seeing a young man who is working toward greater independence and a mom who is committed to helping him reach his full potential. These conversations are exactly why Foundation Week exists—to build relationships, identify strengths, and create a roadmap for success.

We’re excited to walk alongside him as he continues building the skills and confidence needed to reach his goals.

Home Away From Home Autism Center (HAFH) is now accepting inquiries for Foundation Week — a unique assessment and planning experience designed for teens and young adults with autism and developmental disabilities.

During Foundation Week, participants complete life skills, independence, social, and community-based assessments while families receive a personalized Individualized Action Plan (IAP) filled with recommendations, resources, and next steps for success.

Whether you’re preparing for greater independence, employment, community involvement, or adulthood, we’re here to help build the foundation.
