Thank you for your service to our communities!

Today, on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, the ICISF joins the nation in recognizing the extraordinary men and women who serve on the front lines of our communities.

To the officers who answer the call at any hour, who face uncertainty with courage, and who carry the weight of critical incidents long after their shift ends: We see you. Our mission at ICISF is to ensure that those who protect others are themselves protected. We understand that true resilience isn't about being invincible; it’s about having the support, peer care, and resources to navigate the mental and emotional toll of the job.

Today, we express our deepest gratitude for your sacrifice, your professionalism, and your unwavering commitment to public safety. We are honored to stand with you, providing the training and CISM support you need to remain resilient and healthy.

To all law enforcement professionals: Thank you for your service. Please remember that you don't have to walk this path alone. 🤝 www.icisf.org

Try to ask your significant other or family to help you recognize this in yourself. When you are going through it, it is sometimes difficult to see.

🚨 First Responders — These Are Warning Signs Too 🚨

You’re trained to recognize the physical signs of crisis in others. But when it comes to your own mental health, it’s easy to overlook the quiet red flags.

Some signs your mind and body may be overwhelmed:

Snapping at people or sudden mood changes

Canceling plans or ignoring messages because you’re drained

Sleeping too much or not enough

Feeling numb, withdrawn, or easily irritated

Not caring about how you look or letting self-care slide

Increased drinking, risky behavior, or working nonstop to avoid feelings

Feeling hopeless about the future—or like nothing matters anymore

These are not weaknesses. They’re symptoms.
They’re your nervous system saying: “I’m tired. I need help.”

🧠 Mental health injuries are just as real as physical ones.
The earlier you recognize the signs, the sooner you can heal.

You don’t have to wait until you’re in crisis to reach out.
You’re not alone—and you’re worth the care you give to everyone else. 💙

📉 PTSD rates among EMS professionals (20–25%) far exceed those of most healthcare workers, and are in the ballpark of levels seen in combat-exposed military personnel.

You didn’t deploy to a warzone, but your nervous system doesn’t know the difference.

This isn’t about weakness. It’s about exposure—and it’s time we stop pretending we’re unaffected.

🚨 Solutions exist:
✅ Peer support
✅ Fatigue management
✅ Leadership that builds psychological safety
✅ Mental health services that actually get used

Let’s build systems that protect the people in them: https://ow.ly/txre50Ww77n

Sometimes just knowing another person cares enough to reach out, check-in, can be more impactful than you know ❤️
