Celebrating America250!
Did you know Maryland played a vital role in winning the American Revolution? To honor this history, Maryland Department of Transportation placed a new roadside marker in Tuscarora. It marks where General Anthony Wayne and his troops crossed the Potomac River on May 31, 1781. This critical move helped trap British forces at Yorktown, leading to their surrender. Find the new marker at the corner of New Design Road and MD-28.

As we transition from celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month to celebrating America 250, we are taking a look at the Asian community’s contributions to our nation. Last month, MDOT employees gathered together for a cultural celebration to highlight the rich cultures and histories. Administrative Director Christina Poy with the Governor's Office of Community Initiatives shared the connection between AANHPI communities building the nation’s transportation system and how it ignited the annual observance in the first place.
