Rain or shine, they showed up. 💙🖤

This week, as we begin Police Memorial Week, members of our Peer Support Team organized a Memorial Ruck to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

This wasn’t about speed, distance, or competition—it was about purpose.

Every step served as a reminder of the weight carried in this profession… the sacrifices made, the stories remembered, and the bond that unites those who serve alongside one another. From deputies to civilian staff, participants came together in the early morning hours—many pushing forward through steady rain—to reflect, remember, and support one another.

The uniform may look different from person to person, but the commitment to this profession and to each other remains the same.

Thank you to our Peer Support Team for organizing such a meaningful event, and to every member who laced up their boots, embraced the weather, and walked with purpose.

We remember the fallen. We support the living. We carry on together.

⚾ Recently, Sheriff Greg Six had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before the Atlee Raiders took on Patrick Henry for Law Enforcement Appreciation Night.

This event carried a special family connection, as Sheriff Six’s cousin, Michael Morris, serves as Atlee’s head baseball coach, while Michael’s son, Austin Morris, leads the Patrick Henry program—making for a memorable matchup both on and off the field.

Sheriff Six was also proud to be joined by Hanover County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Pennycuff, Atlee High School Principal Dr. John Wheeler, Hanover County School Board Chair Whitney Welsh, and Hanover County Board of Supervisors Chairman Sean Davis.

We are grateful to Atlee High School for once again inviting us to be part of this meaningful evening and for recognizing the service and sacrifice of law enforcement. Opportunities like this reflect the strong partnerships we are proud to share throughout our community.

Good luck to both teams as they wrap up their seasons and head into Regionals! ⚾💙

🚓 Traffic Tip Tuesday 🚓

This week, deputies with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office will be focusing enforcement efforts in the area of Sliding Hill Road near the Interstate 95 interchange, with a particular emphasis on speeding violations.

This corridor sees a significant amount of daily traffic, and excessive speed creates unnecessary risks for everyone on the road—whether you’re commuting, merging on or off the interstate, or simply traveling through the area.

Our goal is simple: encourage safer driving behaviors and help prevent crashes before they happen.

Please slow down, stay alert, and give yourself extra time to get where you’re going safely.

Safe roads start with smart choices.

This morning, the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office was honored to host our Annual Memorial Breakfast, a meaningful time to reflect, remember, and honor the brave law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

We were humbled by the tremendous support shown by our regional public safety partners, including representatives from Henrico, Chesterfield, and New Kent, as well as the many distinguished members of our community who joined us in remembrance.

We sincerely appreciate the presence and support of Hanover Fire & EMS Chief Anderson and his staff, Commonwealth’s Attorney Mackenzie Babichenko and her team, Emergency Communications Director Cheryl Buchanan, Delegate Buddy Fowler, Delegate Scott Wyatt, Senator Ryan McDougle, former Attorney General Jason Miyares, retired Sheriffs David R. Hines and Stuart Cook, Hanover County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Pennycuff, members of the Hanover County Board of Supervisors including Chairman Sean Davis, and special guest Jeff Katz.

The morning began with a heartfelt prayer from Pastor Rick Raines, followed by a moment of silence to honor those we have lost. Sheriff Greg Six recognized those in attendance before welcoming Chairman Sean Davis, who presented Sheriff Six with a proclamation recognizing National Police Week. Chairman Davis also presented a special proclamation to Jeff Katz in recognition of his support of law enforcement through his Blue Friday series over the past decade, honoring the life and legacy of Lieutenant Jan McTernan.

Sheriff Six then introduced our guest speaker, former Attorney General Jason Miyares, who delivered powerful remarks about the profound impact of attending funerals for fallen officers and the importance of never forgetting their sacrifice.

As we continue through National Police Week, we remain steadfast in honoring the courage, service, and sacrifice of those who gave everything in the line of duty. 💙🖤

Recently, the Hanover County Sheriffs Office Crime Prevention Unit was in attendance for Studley Store’s annual community day. Sgt. Povar was on hand to talk safety with attendees and give the next generation of law enforcement a “hands on” opportunity with some of our gear! And yes, puppies.
