And I’m running as a write-in candidate in District 4 because Commissioner Lethia Lee has left firemen in a lurch. I first volunteered as a fireman when I was a student at New Bern Senior High School. I worked as a Paramedic in Orange County, NC after college and then in Miami-Dade County Florida for more than 29 years where I retired as the Division Chief of Special Operations. After retirement I
became the Fire Chief in Morrisville and later the Division Chief at Northern Wake Fire Department in the Raleigh area. Back home now, at Harrells Fire Department, I confront problems our firefighters face every day. They don’t have replacement parts for basic equipment like fire hoses and their “air packs” are expiring which are required for firefighters to enter house fires and other hazards. There was a story in the newspaper the other day about a local house that caught on fire – the County 911/Communications Center sent the fire truck to the wrong address. The house burned badly due to the delay in getting firemen there. This is one of several examples of recent occurrences. It's time to fix those problems. That’s one of the reasons I’m running for County Commissioner. You don’t hear of many ‘write-in’ candidates. But the way it works is simple: When you go to vote you’ll see a blank line on the ballot under the incumbent commissioner’s name, Lethia Lee. All you have to do is write my name – FOY JENKINS – in the blank. We’re blessed with many fine volunteer firemen, EMS employees, and Law Enforcement officers here in Sampson County. But when they don’t get the support they need things fall apart. I am running to address these problems. These issues are important to ALL citizens of Sampson County
