Following PSU's Rose Bowl Game victory over Oregon Ducks Football, former Gov. Tom Ridge honored the team's players and former Coach Joe Paterno at the Pennsylvania State Capitol in #Harrisburg.

The winter issue of Pennsylvania Heritage magazine includes an intriguing article about Woo Hong Neok, a Chinese American soldier in the Civil War. The article was written by Willis L. Shirk Jr of Pennsylvania State Archives and kicks off PHMC's annual theme for 2013, Pennsylvania Civil War 150.

Most people know the American Civil War pitted Northerners against Southerners. Few realize that a Chinese immigrant living in Lancaster fought for the Union. He was Woo Hong Neok and he took up the cause of "opposing slavery."
