Unity in Victory!

On September 10, 2023, Local 776 held nominations for the election of Officers and Business Agents. The Thompson-Hicks Slate were all dually nominated and the nominations were accepted by the respective candidates. When the election Officer twice more called for nominations from the floor there were none! Hearing no further nominations the Election Officer closed nominations and declared the Thompson-Hicks Slate winners of the election by acclamation!

As we have said throughout our time in office there continues to be growing unity among the Members, in the pride Members take in their Union. The Members support their elected Officers and Business Agents and believe we are doing the best possible job we can for them. There is no further testament to this fact than having us run unopposed in the election!

We all look forward to next year and the start of a new term in office and the challenges it will bring. We are committed to providing you, the Members with the best possible contracts and representation upholding those contracts that we can.

A big THANK YOU! To the members of Teamsters Local 776 in showing your unwavering trust in us by running unopposed in the Local Union election!

Local 776 Nominations

Nominations for Local 776 officers and Business Agents were held on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at the Local 776 Union Hall in Harrisburg.

The nomination meeting was conducted by William Gross of WDG Consulting. Once nominations were opened to the floor the incumbent Officers and Business Agents, collectively known as the Thompson-Hicks Slate-Teamsters for Teamsters, were each nominated, seconded, and then the nomination was accepted by each candidate. Mr. Gross called a second time for nominations from the floor. Hearing none Mr. Gross called a third and final time for nominations from the floor. Hearing no nominations after the third call Mr. Gross declared nominations closed. He then declared the Thompson-Hicks Slate Candidates winners of the election by acclamation.

Congratulations to all of the Slate Members on their successful bid for reelection. The elected term of office commences on January 1, 2024. The entire Thompson-Hicks Slate would like to thank all the members of Local 776 for their continued support in leading Local 776 in the best interest of the membership.

Hello All!

2023 is an important year for members of Teamsters Local 776. Later this year you, the members, will be electing Local Union Officers and Business Agents. Since taking office in January 2015, and with your support being re-elected in 2017, and 2020, the Teamsters for Teamsters Slate have been working hard for you to provide the type of representation and services you deserve.

The results have been dramatic; just to briefly name a few: under sound financial leadership the Local Union's finances have increased every year since the Thompson-Hicks Slate assumed office. Business Agents again hold key positions on the ABF, UPS, and TForce Freight negotiating committees. In addition, Local 776 President Ed Thompson was appointed by IBT General President Sean O’Brien to the position of Eastern Region Freight Coordinator. During our current term in office, National Contracts were negotiated with these employers and our Business Agents played an integral part in these negotiations making sure our members' concerns were voiced. Additionally, new “White Paper” contracts in Local 776 were negotiated with Hershey Medical Center and Pleasant Acres Nursing Home.

Furthermore, in 2023 we are negotiating twenty-three “White Paper” contracts in-house. When we were not negotiating new agreements we were upholding member’s rights and protections under their respective collective bargaining agreements. Last but not least our organizer, Ashley Cerzullo, continued to grow the membership and increase "Teamster Power".

One of the highlights of our current term in office was the purchase of a new building for Local 776. The new building is newer larger, and is in a location only six miles from the current Union Hall on Jefferson Street The new building will meet the needs of Local 776 now and well into the future. Everyone at Local 776 is excited about moving to a new location and nicer building. Once everyone is settled in the Local plans on holding an “Open House” for our Members and Friends to come and visit.

Teamsters for Teamsters; the best choice, the right choice, your only choice to ensure that you, the hard-working men and women of Local 776, have the best possible representation working for you day in and day out. Keep Local 776 strong: vote the Teamsters for Teamsters Slate!

VICTORY!!

The Teamsters for Teamsters Slate received approximately 66% of the votes cast in the Local 776 election.

The members spoke loud and clear: they are pleased with the way the Thompson/Hicks team is representing them and the direction the Thompson/Hicks Team is taking Local 776.

On behalf of everyone on the Slate we would like to thank the members who came out and supported us; displayed signs and stickers, wore the Thompson/Hicks T-Shirts, and came together as Teamsters in support of the Slate.

Ballot counting will begin tomorrow morning! Thanks to you all for your continued support and we hope the outcome is for you to have us as your representation for the next Three years!
