Week 2 is underway!

This week, our new recruits are focusing on Engine Company Operations. The week is filled learning and honing the skills of water supply and advancing hose lines in different scenarios.

The Engine Company is the backbone of the fire service. Without good engine operations, fires can advance and make hazards worse.

🚒 PROMOTION ANNOUNCEMENT 🚒

The Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Fire is proud to announce the promotion of Benjamin Wolford to Assistant District Chief (Chief 34-1), effective immediately.

In his new role, he will work alongside District Chief Rodkey and the Bureau’s leadership team to support the personnel and operations of Station 34 (Paxtonia 34 Fire Company) and our continued mission of providing exceptional fire protection throughout Lower Paxton Township.

We’re excited to announce that the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Fire has been awarded a 2026 Pennsylvania State Municipal Capital Grant in the amount of $99,000 from the Pennsylvania Office of the State Fire Commissioner

These grant funds will be used to renovate and expand the Bureau of Fire’s administrative offices within the Public Safety Department located in the lower level of the Lower Paxton Township Municipal Center, creating a more functional and efficient workspace to support our growing organization and the services we provide to our community.

As our Bureau continues to evolve, these improvements will enhance our ability to coordinate emergency operations and administrative functions, all while making the best use of grant funding to reduce the burden on local taxpayers.

We are grateful to our state legislators and the Commonwealth for their continued investment in public safety and for recognizing the importance of supporting the firefighters and staff who serve Lower Paxton Township every day.

This is another important step as we continue building a modern, sustainable fire service for our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last evening at the Lower Paxton Night Out at George Park!

Events like these are a great reminder of what makes Lower Paxton Township such a special community. We always enjoy the opportunity to meet our residents, answer questions, show off our apparatus, and connect with so many families.

Whether you stopped by to chat with our firefighters, took a ride in our Tower Ladder, let the kids explore the fire trucks, or simply stopped to say hello, we truly appreciate your support. Building relationships outside of emergency calls is just as important as serving you during them.

Another milestone for the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Fire!

Today, we proudly welcomed 12 new career firefighters to the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Fire family.

These recruits have officially begun our 6-week in-house Fire Academy, where they'll learn the standards, traditions, and expectations that make up The Bureau. Throughout the academy, they will receive extensive hands-on training in:

•Engine Company Operations
•Vehicle Rescue
•Rope Rescue
•Truck Company Operations
•Engine Driver Training

Upon successful completion of the academy, each firefighter will be assigned to a shift as we transition to our new 24-hours on / 72-hours off staffing schedule.

After a day of learning, tonight all 12 members were officially sworn in to their position by the Lower Paxton Township Board of Supervisors with family and friends in attendance.

This marks a significant step forward for our department and our community. With this transition, the Bureau will staff five career firefighters on duty 24 hours a day, providing increased operational readiness while continuing to work alongside and support our dedicated volunteer firefighters.

Please join us in welcoming these 12 recruits as they begin their journey with the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Fire. We wish them success throughout the academy and look forward to seeing them serve our community with professionalism, pride, and dedication.

Units are currently on the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident on I81 N at MM 70.4. I 81 N is reduced to one lane, avoid the area.
