The Dauphin County Board of Commissioners established the Dauphin County Recycling Center (DCRC) and opened its doors on April 20, 2009. The Recycling Center is operated by the Dauphin County Department of Solid Waste Management & Recycling and accepts electronics, appliances, mercury-containing thermostats and thermometers, and provides confidential document shredding.

We are celebrating America Recycles Day (November 15) all week long! Bring your eWaste, appliances, Styrofoam, etc. to the Dauphin County Recycling Center this week and receive a free 32-oz. 100% recycled PET plastic water bottle for your recycling efforts. It's our way of saying, "Thank You" for doing your part.

Dauphin County Recycling Center has partnered with Faulkner Auto Group and Comcast Spotlight to kick off the month-long recycling program—“GCycle,” which is in affiliation with the Comcast cable gaming network G4. During the month of October, residents are encouraged to drop off small electronics such as cell phones, calculators, keyboards and other items at any of the eight Faulkner Auto Dealerships in the Harrisburg market. The Dauphin County Recycling Center, located at 1620 South 19th Street in Harrisburg, has temporarily waived the fees for major appliances containing refrigerants such as refrigerators, freezers, and dehumidifiers until Friday, September 30; the normal fee is twenty dollars per item (containing refrigerant). The Board of Commissioners have waived the associated fee for refrigerant reclamation as an effort to speed up the recovery and reduce the burden on the citizens of Dauphin County.
