Famous quote from a movie. "Badges? We don’t need no stinking badges!" So true. Thank you George Strait for this tribute song. Never forget escorting you as a young Pa State Trooper stationed at Avondale with Trooper Mike Gillelan at Sunset Park, Chester County. I shook George's hand and got to speak with him as he got off the bus in 1987 after learning of his return to stage after the tragic loss of his 13 yr old daughter involved in a accident with two other teens in 1986.

Watched the video and saw my classmate from the National Sheriffs Academy Sheriff Juan Figueroa in the video. Small world! I never listened to country music but loved "Country Music" ever since. I salute George Strait for all that he stands for and most importantly recognizing Law Enforcement and Firefighters within the video! Were not going anywhere and will continue to protect the Thin Blue Line.

During my 36 plus year career in law enforcement, I have worked with hundreds of officers in Dauphin County. One of those I had the opportunity to work with for many years was former Susquehanna Twp Police Officer and now District Magistrate William Wenner.

Bill’s unwavering high sense of integrity, ethics, professionalism, and core values describes Bill’s character. There is no more qualified individual to serve as Magisterial District Judge in Lower Paxton, North Side.

Bill’s experience, work ethic and fairness on the bench will make Lower Paxton Township a much safer place. As Sheriff, I am proud to stand with and enthusiastically support Bill Wenner for another term as District Magistrate in Lower Paxton Twp.

32 years ago today a few of my friends ran towards trouble and entered the Camp Hill State Prison as it was engulfed in flames while prisoners escaped their cells and rioted for 3 days. I was proud to serve alongside my Uncle, Tpr. Pete Chimienti and the men and women of State and Local LE, Correction Officers, Firefighters and First Responders who responded.

I had a different view from a saddle as 1 of 8 Troopers assigned to the PSP Mounted Unit. This day was surreal and will never be forgotten. Serving today as a Dauphin County Prison Board member has more meaning to me then ever. See video here youtube.com/watch?v=pN_-7v4X3bE

Thanks to the quick actions of Harrisburg City PD Detectives, Deputy Sheriff Tyler Bream and Deputy Alex Lherisson, an 8 month old infant and 2 year old toddler are still alive.

No way should we refer to these people as "Parents" of these kids, nor refer to them as the "Mother/Father." The DEVIL himself could not come up with words to describe the people who were responsible for the well being and care of these kids. Please see below video for the full story!

Dashcam Footage Shows Florida Deputies Ambushed During Traffic Stop

Who wants this job? I can tell you who, NOBODY! Our recent Sheriff Deputy testing last month had 29 applicants. Out of the 29, only ONE showed up to take the test.

The starting salary for DC Sheriff Deputy is $16.89 per hour. Maybe if I post the recently released dashcam video from Brevard County Sheriff's Office, our recruitment efforts will improve. See attached video as this is the volatile bu****it we deal with while protecting the "Thin Blue Line."

The suspect was a "CAREER OFFENDER" with 40 previous arrests, including 23 felony arrests for charges that included robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault with a weapon, multiple narcotics offenses, battery of a LE Officer, and attempted first-degree felony murder. The suspect was out on bond for two felony drug charges and had two active felony warrants at the time of the incident. The suspect was shot dead and luckily the deputy's injuries were non-life-threatening. WARNING: This post contains graphic video that may be disturbing to viewers. Viewer discretion is advised. Florida deputies attacked at traffic stop, suspect shot and killed

So very proud to represent the Men and Women of the Dauphin County Sheriff's Office this past Saturday and be a part of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation "Never Forget Walk" in Hershey, Pa. with Frank Siller, Chairman/CEO.

I want to thank the Hershey community for showing up as you proudly showed your support of our Armed Forces Members, First Responders and Law Enforcement Officers. I was moved to tears during the parade by the outgoing support as the entire community waved American Flags, gave thumbs up, and shouted out "Thank You." Most importantly the kids doing the same thing. I realized once again, there is no doubt we have more people in the US that support Law Enforcment, then those who choose to vilify us.

I personally had no idea other then seeing commercials about the Tunnels to Towers Foundation and from this point on, I am all IN for signing up and donating to this great cause that helps Military, Law Enforcement Officers and families who had loss of life or catastrophic injuries due to their service. Tunnels to Towers raised $335,000 for my buddy U.S. Marshal Christopher D. Hill, and paid off the remaining portion of his mortgage. Chris was slain in Harrisburg on January 18, 2018, while serving felony warrants while protecting our citizens here in Dauphin County.

TTT has done so much for our military and law enforcement hero's as they continue to memorilize the 2,977 souls who were lost their lives including 343 members of the FDNY and 60 police officers. Please consider donating to this foundation as you can also donate as low as $11.00 a month that will help assist those in need who served our county. Getting to meet real hero's like Army Sgt. Rick Yarosh was the highlight of my day and humbling to know that he paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

You can read more about the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and how to donate by visiting https://t2t.org/

National Night Out 2021, was a huge success! On behalf of law enforcement in Dauphin County, we were humbled by the huge turnout by everyone who came out to truly support our First Responders.

Watching kids of all ages and backgrounds shake hands and interact with the officers was heartwarming to say the least. Kudos to all of the parents that pushed their kids towards us to meet with those who protect and serve. Hard to believe, but for some of these kids this was the highlight of their summer with the many activities to see and do. Some of the smiles in the photos are priceless. #nationalnightout2021

Scammers now targeting "Real Estate Agents" here in Dauphin County. Sheriff Nick has received numerous complaints regarding scammers claiming to be from the Sheriff’s Office. These scammers have been very successful in the past few days obtaining money from victims.

Scammers are telling victims they are in contempt of court for failure to appear for jury duty at the Dauphin County Courthouse. Scammers use actual names of Sheriff Deputies and Court of Common Pleas Judges indicating an arrest warrant has been issued. They also tell victims they risk jail time and risk their state issued real estate license revoked if not paid.

Scammers tell victims they must report to the courthouse with 2 Money-Pacs cards worth $450.00 each to pay the $900 dollars in fines. Scammers then tell victims to go to "Sheriff Approved" retailers, Sheetz convenience stores and providing locations to purchase the cards. Scammers demand that victims must remain on the phone while driving to Sheetz to purchase money cards and complete the transactions.

See ABC27 News Mark Hall's report on video here.
https://www.abc27.com/news/dauphin-co-sheriff-warning-of-scam-targeting-real-estate-license-holders/

These scammers are very convincing and intimidating as this is all part of the scam as they initially tell victims to come to a kiosk at the Sheriff's Office to pay but later convince them to reveal the redemption code on the back of the Green Dot Money Pac Cards as they retrieve the money instantly.

These calls are bogus and do not originate from the Dauphin County Sheriff’s Office!! If you or someone you know receives a threatening call from someone claiming to be from the Sheriff’s office, do not share any sensitive information with them and report the call.

The Sheriff’s Office does not require anyone to provide sensitive information in any telephone call, nor to purchase any kind of monetary device to avoid arrest. These scammers use a spoofing websites to show the phone call originates from the Sheriff’s Office on the victims phone as it will indicate on caller ID the actual phone number, leading a victim to believe it is legitimate call from the Dauphin County Sheriff’s Office. This is a very deceptive scam and very hard to trace.

Anyone who has been a victim of this scam should try to document as much information as possible, such as a name, call-back number or email address, without giving any of their personal information away. The worst part of this type of scam is people will not report this crime as it is quite embarrassing to the victims to actually report it.

People receiving a suspicious call or phone message should immediately file a complaint regarding these scams by calling their local police or the attorney general’s Bureau of Consumer Protection’s toll-free helpline number at 800-441-2555. Our Story

This webpage is intended to provide a platform to facilitate the sharing and exchange of information. Sheriff Nicholas Chimienti Jr. took the oath as the new Sheriff of Dauphin County on January 4, 2016. During his tenure as Sheriff and as a State Trooper before that, Sheriff Nick cultivated trusted relationships with each of the federal, state and local law enforcement agencies working throughout Dauphin County and beyond. He is extremely proud of the men and women appointed as Deputy Sheriffs, all of whom are dedicated to serving the citizens of Dauphin County with honor and distinction. The Sheriff is elected to a four-year term and is charged with wide-ranging duties including the statewide transportation of more than 10,000 adult and juvenile prisoners each year who are scheduled to appear in Dauphin County courtrooms for criminal trials, criminal hearings, and civil court proceedings. Your Deputy Sheriffs are tasked with duties such as safeguarding and maintaining order in all Dauphin County Courtrooms; serving both criminal bench warrants and civil court documents (such as Protection From Abuse Court Orders, Custody Orders, Eviction Orders, etc.); and the ex*****on of Sheriff Sales of Real Estate. Additionally, Sheriff Nick issues “Concealed Carry Permits” to qualified citizens wishing to carry a concealed weapon and he serves on the Dauphin County Prison Board, which sets forth County Prison Policy. Sheriff Nick has long been a proponent of staying current with the latest law enforcement trends and cutting edge technology. In less than 2 years as the Sheriff, he has already upgraded an aging vehicle fleet, deployed a new software system designed to improve criminal warrant service efficiency and productivity, replaced expired body armor and replaced the Department’s 10-year-old duty weapons with brand new pistols. Before joining the Dauphin County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Nick Chimienti Jr. and Chief Deputy Sheriff Jack Duignan both served with distinction as Troopers with the Pennsylvania State Police and have more than 60 years of combined law enforcement experience. They have brought their shared record of dedicated service and achievement to the Dauphin County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Nick’s overarching goal is to ensure that Accountability, Professionalism, Integrity, and Respect remain the hallmarks of the Dauphin County Sheriff’s Office.
