Channels Food Rescue

Channels Food Rescue Channels helps feed those in need through multiple feeding programs and provides culinary training to low-income persons. Channels is a non-profit organization which collects perishable and non-perishable food from donors and distributes to our member agencies such as homeless shelters, soup kitchens, etc.

My students are often surprised to learn that when Martin Luther King came to Montgomery in the spring of 1954, civil rights activism was not high on his list of priorities. King came to Montgomery because it offered a nice salary, a comfortable parsonage, and a highly educated congregation.

100 runner limit and the slots are filling up fast for the 5th Annual PA Society 5 Miler, benefitting Channels Food Rescue in Harrisburg. A $25 donation is requested to participate in this annual event, which will be held on Saturday, December 13 at 8:15AM. The 5-mile course will run from the Waldorf Astoria to Central Park and back. (June 19, 2013) - UnitedHealth Group and the Optum Institute released the Doing Good is Good for You: 2013 Health and Volunteering Study. The study reveals that U.S. adults who volunteer report that they feel better, both physically and emotionally than adults who do not volunteer.
