DCNR honored a York County man for saving a person from drowning in Lake Marburg at Codorus State Park last year.

Michael Orenzoff was walking his dog at around 10:30 A.M., Thursday, December 1, 2022, when he heard someone crying for help near the marina on Lake Marburg.

He jumped in the water, pulled the man back to shore, and called 911. The man was treated at a York hospital and later released.

The Pennsylvania Outdoor Corps Pittsburgh nine-month young adult crew replaced worn boardwalks along the Heritage Trail at Raccoon Creek State Park -- part of a 20-mile hiking loop within the park.

The Pennsylvania Outdoor Corps nine-month Harrisburg young adult crew worked to preserve and interpret a historic cemetery at Boyd Big Tree Preserve Conservation Area.

Beavers resurface their lodges with a new layer of vegetation and seal them up with a layer of mud in the late fall.

They leave an unsealed circle in the center of the roof to allow ventilation and on very cold days, you can sometimes see the steam from warmer air rising up. Look for beaver lodges in streams and creeks at state parks.

The Pennsylvania Outdoor Corps Roving Trail Crew designed and constructed the first trail network at Bowman’s Hill at Washington Crossing Historic Park this past year.

It took the five person crew two weeks to design the trail network and complete two of the three trails, which take hikers up the hill in varying difficulty.
