Harrisburg Police Athletic League

Harrisburg Police Athletic League An alternative crime prevention organization that uses educational, athletic, and recreational activities to bring the community, police officers, and youth together in the greater Harrisburg area.
(2)

PAL is a youth crime prevention program that utilizes educational, athletic and recreational activities to create trust and understanding between police officers and youth. It is based on the conviction that young people - if they are reached early enough - can develop strong positive attitudes towards police officers in their journey through life toward the goal of maturity and good citizenship. The PAL program brings youth under the supervision and positive influence of a law enforcement agency and expands public awareness about the role of a police officer and the reinforcement of the responsible values and attitudes instilled in young people by their parents. Studies have shown that if a young person respects a police officer on the ball field, gym or classroom, the youth will likely come to respect the laws that police officers enforce. Such respect is beneficial to the youth, the police officer, the neighborhood and the business community.

I was just informed by his wife Tori, that my dear friend and our board member and member of the Harrisburg Police Department, Lt Russell Winder is in critical condition in a hospital in Philadelphia. This appears to be due to COVID. He was positive and getting better and tested negative for COVID but got ill again. He's still negative for COVID. Please keep him in your prayers.

Hello friends and colleagues, it's time again for our annual fundraiser for Harrisburg Police Athletic League. I do understand that due to COVID we all are struggling and doing the best we can. What I am asking is for you to review our virtual site and if at all possible donate to our mentees. We are preparing to start our services, but in the safest way for all. This has been a difficult time for many non-profits. Right now HPAL needs your support. These funds go directly to programming and recreational activities for our mentors. This is the time when we need to keep them off the streets and focused on themselves, and with your donations, we will work hard to see this happens. Stay safe, keep your families and friends safe.

Sincerely Dr. (Charles) Stuart.

UPDATE
We continue to assess our ability to return to providing services to our mentees. The most important thing is that we do everything possible to make and keep us safe. The HPAL Board has met and we have agreed to revisit our status in two weeks. By this time we will have additional safety measures in place for our mentees. We will not rush back to activities until we have done all we can do to make things safer for all involved. If you would have any questions please do not hesitate to give me a call. Thanks

Congratulations, and welcome to Corporal Rich Wilson of the Susquehanna Twp Police Department for becoming the newest member of the HPAL Board of Directors. Corporal Wilson is a Patrol Supervisor currently assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. He also serves as Deputy Coroner with the Dauphin County Coroner's Officer.

We are excited to have Corporal Wilson join our HPAL family, I have known Rich and his family for many years. I know of his compassion and fairness for others and his dedication to his law enforcement responsibilities. His desire to set a positive example for all, especially the youth of Dauphin County, is unquestionable. Again Welcome.

Hello HPAL family. Hope all is well and we all are staying in and taking care of ourselves. It's very important that we follow all guidelines and continue to do social distancing. I know that it can get difficult during this time of staying in the house and with limited activities. We all will get through this, but please take care of yourselves. Dr. Stuart

Outstanding!!

Today, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of PAL Day at City Hall introducing local students from Police Athletic League of Philadelphia centers to city government. Every year, we have a “PAL Mayor for the Day” and the student chosen, Andrew Walker delivered a moving speech that we had to share. Here it is!

Yesterday I met Mr Hess and his staff and they were fantastic. I will forever take my taxes there. What I like the most is the friendly atmosphere and that Mr Hess is a History Buff. He shares his history knowledge and I was completely attentive. His prices are very competitive and fair and they are really good at getting all of your deductions. Thank you Mr Hess and Jack, Carol (mom), Carolyn(daughter, “Peanut”)and Cheyenne (granddaughter).
