It’s with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation from Harrisburg City Council effective September 14, 2018. Proverbs 16:9 says, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” I have accepted a new full-time position in Atlanta, Georgia and will be relocating in the next couple of weeks. I would first like to thank all of the residents of Harrisburg for trusting me to represent you. Serving as your city council representative has been my one of my life’s greatest joys.

Second, I would like to thank my colleagues on council for your constant support and guidance as we worked as a team to provide the citizens of Harrisburg with a stronger and more transparent government system. As a council, we were able to accomplish great things and as we enter the next stages of our financial recovery I believe that we will continue that course. We know what our citizens deserve and I implore council to continue to fight for our residents. It is also my hope that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania recognize the significance of the capital city and understand the sacrifices we have made as a city. The Commonwealth must commit to providing Harrisburg leaders with the tools to build a sustainable future for our city.

Three years ago when I was with a group of childhood friends and decided to run for council, I never thought I would win. At only 26 years old I knew it was a long shot but I was vested in wanting to make a difference in the city that I love. Harrisburg has given me so many opportunities and I would not be the man that I am today without this city. The only thing I wanted to do was make the city proud and prove to the next upcoming generation that you don’t have to wait to be leader.

We Saw. We Struggled. We Overcame. We Conquered. But most importantly, we did it TOGETHER.

Thank You Again Harrisburg,
Cornelius

Act 47 Plan | City of Harrisburg

‼️Please Share‼️- IMPORTANT MEETING TUESDAY

Public Hearing on Plan to DOUBLE Real Estate Taxes in the City of Harrisburg- Tuesday, July 24th in City Council Chambers at 5:30.

This Tuesday the Act 47 Coordinator with the PA Department of Community and Economic Development will be holding a public hearing on the Act 47 Exit Plan that calls for DOUBLING Real Estate Taxes for the City of Harrisburg. At this meeting the coordinator is required to listen to all public comments. I’m asking all residents and any one outside the city who cares about the future of Harrisburg to come out and voice your opposition to this plan.

This will be the last day that the Act 47 coordinator can take comments on the plan so it’s important that the community shows up.

How does this affect you?

The City of Harrisburg already has the highest real estate taxes in the area. This plan is calling for the city to DOUBLE what you are currently paying now. If you are a homeowner not only will you be paying more but there’s a potential your property value could decrease. If you are renter due to this increase it could lead to an increase in what you currently pay in rent.

What can you do about it?

One of the first steps is showing up to this meeting and publicly objecting to this plan. We must let the Act 47 coordinator know that residents can not carry this burden. If you absolutely cannot make this meeting please submit a comment to the http://harrisburgpa.gov/act47/ by Tuesday, July 24.

We as a city cannot miss this opportunity on Tuesday to be heard.

Let’s fill the whole first floor of City Hall.

The City of Harrisburg in collaboration with L.O.O.P Boyz & Girlz invites you to join our FREE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM at one of our Harrisburg schools below.

"Worst Municipal Finance Disaster": Commonwealth files lawsuit against actors in HBG incinerator debacle. - theBurg

Hopefully the residents of Harrisburg will see accountability through the court system for the irresponsible decisions that led to our financial collapse.

The commonwealth of Pennsylvania today filed a civil lawsuit against numerous companies involved in Harrisburg’s disastrous incinerator retrofit, seeking compensation for some of the $360 million in debt that the project piled up. The lawsuit, filed in Commonwealth Court, names many of the law fir...
