ProStart® is a nationwide, two-year program for high school students that develops their talent into tomorrow’s restaurant and foodservice industry leaders.
ProStart’s industry-driven curriculum provides real-world educational opportunities and practical skills to open doors for fulfilling careers in the restaurant and foodservice industry. The curriculum teaches all facets of the industry, as well as provides students with on-the-job experiences where they can apply their classroom knowledge in real world situations.

After winning first place in the 2022 Pennsylvania ProStart Culinary Invitational in February, our Milton Hershey School culinary students headed to Washington, D.C. to compete nationally! In the end, the team placed 21 in the nation at the National ProStart Program Invitational! Congratulations to our students!
MHS Culinary Teacher, Sam Katzaman said, "The judges who watched them cook gave them glowing reviews on cooking methods, safety and sanitation, organization, communication, and menu presentation. The team finished two minutes early, and completely cleaned their station before times was called. It was very exciting to watch!"

Our very own Chef Will Rufe was there to judge, and said you were amazing! We are looking forward to hosting the team for a celebration dinner at Hampton Winds later next month!

PRLA's Keystone Chapter joined forces with Pennsylvania ProStart last week to celebrate the installation of the Chapter's 2022 officers, while supporting the students as they prepared for their competition the following day. The Chapter sponsored a fun pizza & ice cream party, complete with Penn State Berkey Creamery ice cream, of course! 🍦 🍕
Thank you to the newly-installed officers for taking time to chat with these students about the great career possibilities and opportunities that await them in the hospitality industry.
