Congratulations, future Chef Brown! 😃👨‍🍳 Best of luck at IUP Academy of Culinary Arts.

to Medarian Brown, Culinary Arts student from Big Beaver Falls Area School District for being accepted into IUP Academy of Culinary Arts!

Medarian said, "Dude, when I found out I could enroll in Culinary Arts at BCCTC, I did, and you know what? You never know what you are going to be cooking in that program... It feels so good to be in that kitchen and when I am at home, I use the same skills I learn in class to make my own meals."

Medarian's career goal after graduating from IUP Academy of Culinary Arts is owning his own food truck and traveling around. He is so looking forward to the title of 'Chef Brown'.

: Medarian learned of his passion for cooking during his 9th grade year after taking his Consumer Science class with Mr. Shakespeare or "Mr. Shakes" as he likes to call him. He said he thanks him all the time when he sees him because he helped him discover his career path. How awesome is that?!

How cool is this collaboration! 🥬 Check out the "living wall" at Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center, providing fresh produce for the culinary arts program.

GJCTC's Culinary Arts Program, in conjunction with the Laboratory Technology Program, has created a living wall in the cafeteria. Several varieties of lettuce and herbs were grown in the hydroponic system. These items were used in many of the delicious meals created by our students. In the photo, culinary student Angel Bishop shows off the root systems of 2 of the plants.

In the end, the team placed 21 in the nation at the National ProStart Program Invitational! Congratulations to our students!

MHS Culinary Teacher, Sam Katzaman said, "The judges who watched them cook gave them glowing reviews on cooking methods, safety and sanitation, organization, communication, and menu presentation.
