Public sector union workers have fought and advocated for OSHA-like health and safety protections in their workplace for decades. Finally, , Public sector was voted out of the House Labor and Industry Committee! We must ensure that HB 299 is brought up for a House floor vote next week and has enough votes to pass.
We need all our members to contact their Representatives and tell them to call for a full House vote on House Bill 299 as soon as possible and urge them to vote YES on House Bill 299. Representatives are back in their district offices on Thursday and Friday and must hear from us.

Representatives need to hear the health and safety issues we deal with as public sector workers to understand why voting yes on HB 299 is critical to our safety in the workplace. Share your experiences, including physical safety concerns, inadequate PPE, poor air quality, and infestations.

The federal Occupational Health and Safety Act ( ) provides strong workplace safety protections for private and federal employees. Unfortunately, OSHA does not cover state and local employees. As a result, our members experience frequent workplace health, safety, and security issues. Now is our time to advocate for to pass the House.
We are asking all our members to call, e-mail, or visit your Representative this week. They need to hear your personal stories to understand why public sector workers need these protections. The Bill reaching the House floor is a historical moment! So call or e-mail your legislator and tell them to advocate for HB 299 to be brought to the floor and vote yes.
Wishing you a very happy Eid, from our family to yours.
