The Department of Human Services is issuing an important reminder that major changes are being made to the HealthChoices Physical Health Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) offering Medical Assistance benefits on September 1, 2022.
A large number of Medical Assistance consumers must select a new MCO by August 16, 2022. If they do not make a selection, a new MCO will be automatically chosen for them.
Medical Assistance consumers should review the MCO selection materials they received from Pennsylvania Enrollment Services in late June and early July 2022. If Medical Assistance consumers are unsure if they need to select a new MCO, or haven’t received selection materials, they should contact Pennsylvania Enrollment Services at 1-800-440-3989, TTY: 1-800-618-4225 M-F 8:00-6:00 or https://www.enrollnow.net/

Voices of Families Are Needed For NATIONAL SURVEY

Experiences of Families Using Crisis Services for their Child, Youth or Young Adult Families can help inform the planning and delivery of crisis services in their state by completing a national survey describing their experiences accessing behavioral health crisis services for their child under age 24. Mental health or substance use crisis services include law enforcement, crisis hotlines or text lines, mobile crisis teams, walk-in centers, and hospital emergency departments. All responses are anonymous.

The survey is being conducted by the Family-Run Executive Director Leadership Association (FREDLA), the Institute for Innovation and Implementation at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, and the Maryland Coalition of Families.
The survey closes July 30, 2022. Click here to participate: https://umaryland.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1HcUI6iILdS5Ktg

USDA works closely with states to ensure that children who receive on free or reduced-price school meals can get the nutrition they need when schools are closed – whether during summer break or unexpected closures during the school year. Through USDA's summer meal programs, approved sites in communities across the country can serve meals to kids up to age 18 at no cost. Families can use this tool to find directions to nearby meal sites, as well as their hours of operation and contact information.

Families seeking food assistance for their children can also contact The USDA National Hunger Hotline, operated by Hunger Free America. The hotline can be reached Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET. at 1-866-3-HUNGRY (1-866-348-6479) (for English) or 1-877-8-HAMBRE (1-877-842-6273) (for Spanish).
